On my Brake Buddy, I have a light and buzzer wired to it that allows me to know every time the Brake Buddy engages. It has a provision built into it that allows this function. I would believe that other braking systems would have something similar.

Are there any electronics in your system? If so, you don't know unless you test them every day.

No electronics. That's the beauty of the M&G system.

You should be able to manually apply the brakes with the controller.

You will feel the drag when you do it.

What braking system do you have?

Have someone pull over in front of you going 20 mph slower, then they hit the brakes to try and take the off ramp you're passing!! The howling toad tires let me know they were working fine and the air horns let him know of his stupidity!! Also the smell of burning rubber and cloud are quite a show for people following you!

Then there's the red light in the dash that ONLY comes on when the brake pedal is pressed in the toad.

I can feel my toad jerk on the motorhome when the brakes are applied. I set the sensitivity down so they only come on under moderately severe braking, I don't want the toad trying to stop the motorhome.

To test mine I have the DW push the break pedal in the coach and I go back to the toad and make sure the toad's break pedal is moving. There is also a toad brake indicator light in the coach, but this is a good double check that it is working. This is for a Roadmaster Brakemaster system, others may be different.

Because I installed the system, and I know it works. And because I do the maintenance so I know it is done right.

I installed my system, I maintain it, I know it works, and I know it was done right. I still test it each day before heading out, however.

You say you know it works, so you must have tested it at least once, right? And you say you maintain it, and that probably involves testing it as well, or at least it should.

So you've pretty much confirmed my point, that braking systems should be tested regularly. Even your purely mechanical air operated system can suffer from stuck pistons, air leaks, or plugged lines. Testing it once at installation time is not enough. But it looks like you know that already, as you've pretty much implied that with what you've written.

So I don't understand why you seem to be questioning the validity of the original question.

That's exactly what I do. I have the same system.

I still don't quite understand the "confusion". my toad brakes are checked every time that the coach brakes are applied with a reasonable amount of force. I can feel the toad jerking backwards on the coach. Isn't that a 'test"?
