Hi,
Are there any nice campgrounds located on the ocean in Maine? We have a large class A and would be looking for a place that has large sites.

One of the best tools to discover campgrounds in specific locations is the Trailer life Directory CD ROM which show campgrounds geographically there are a lot of other features but I only use is to look for campgrounds in specific locations... It will also show you the Trailer life rating but what I usually do is to check out perspective campgrounds on RV park reviews.

Mt favorite CG is Winslow Campground in Freeport Maine. Most of the sites are large enough for a 40 footer. This is strictly dry camping with zero hookups. If you need hookups look at York Beach and CGs near Camden Maine.

Just off the bridge from Trenton onto the Mt Desert Island, on the right side used to be a Bear somethingorother, might now be a KOA has several full hookup sites right on the water. However, before it bacame a KOA - if that's what it is - those sites were booked up long in advance.

I will second that on the Trailer Life CD. We now use that program to plan our entire trips. Once I have narrowed the CG down to one or two, I will Google Earth the CG and see just what it looks like before making reservations. Great program for finding RV parks right where you want to stay.

Libbys in Yorke but they book up years in advance for peak season. You can get in before Memorial Day or after Labor Day.

Also Mt. Desert Narrows near Bar Harbor.

Not right on the ocean but within 1/2 mile is Bayleys in Scarbough. You can get extra large sites. It's 3 miles north of Old Orchard beach and only a 15 minute trip north to Portland. We stay for a week or more each year. There is lots to see and do in that area. Libby's is right on the ocean. We go there a couple times a year for weekends. You need to go before or after the season. The spots are very small and are reserved years in advance with a long waiting list.
