When I was a kid I had a poodle that would eat apples with me, the more sour the apple the better he liked it. Now I have a couple who will eat anything I put in my mouth, however I do try and be selective on what and how much they get.

Our cat loved to eat apples. When DW would finish eating an apple, Frisky would lick the core until there was almost nothing left.

Our dog, Gigi, loves fruits and veggies. As a pup, she'd go out to the garden and help herself to tomatoes. The rest was f. & v. history. Cantaloupes, watermelon, peas, corn (though I don't give her this anymore), green beans, carrots, apples, peppers (red, yellow, and orange), and the creme de la creme in her idea of food heaven, bananas! That girl can be in another part of the house, hear the sound of a banana being pulled off the bunch hanging on the stand, and smell the thing as it's being peeled. Her stuffed animals become roadkill if their in her path to a banana .
I don't give her a lot of anything at one time and I usually finish up a sugary treat with a tartar control dog biscuit to clean her teeth.

My beloved Benson (cat) used to come running when I was slicing fresh tomatoes. He loved them!! I even have pictures of him eating one with some of the red juice on his pure white face. I'm at work (on break) right now so I can't post it but I will later if anyone is interested. We learned early on, after we rescued him, that we never left a tomato (sliced or whole for that matter) unattended where he could get to it!
Our newest rescue dog Tootsie is crazy about apples. I always give her a couple of little bites. Of course this silly dog loves to crunch small pieces of ice, too. I think she is just a cruncher from way back. LOL
We have to remember that many of the foods we are talking about are high in fiber so just a little bit for our pets will "go" a long way.

I love the stories. Sometimes I wonder if our pets were humans in their before life.
May we all have safe travels.

I'm sure all dogs love ice cream but our dog Shadow will sit right in front of you and druel a river down her brisket and lick her lips until you give in and let her lick your bowl......I always leave about 1/4 of my serving just for her.......

CatandJim, I'd love to see a picture of Benson with tomato juice on his face.

I'm convinced Gigi was a gourmet chef in a previous life. One of her fave things to do, besides eat , is lie on the floor and watch me while I'm cooking.
