I need to replace a side window on my 05 Southwind. I have the window, came custom from Atwood. Before I start the project, I was wondering if anyone can share their experience replacing a window on a late model Fleetwood. I am uncertain what how they sealed the window in the frame. It does not appear to be the traditional puddy tape used in trailers.
Thanks!

I had to replace a side window on my Mandalay. After careful consideration, I contacted a glass-replacement company from the yellow pages. Two nice guys came out and did it. First time for them, they did a great job. No leaks. Took the old window away too.

I too had a window replaced in our TT. I ended up letting the dealer take care of the installation.

I watched the guys replace one of ours - one guy removed the screws from the inside frame and pulledit off, then pushed out the remaining frame w/glass to the outside guy. After cleaning off the opening, they put on a silicone caulking sealer all around the opening, placed the outside frame/glass in the opening, reattached the inside frame and were done. Simple but does need two people - can be pretty heavy depending upon the size of the window.

Same method of removal as Joy posted. If it won't come loose it will help to use a plastic putty knife to get between the body and window frame. To reseal I use butyl tape.

Atwood uses a rubber seal on the window frame, not putty tape. Use a putty knife to break the seal loose from the fiberglass. You may want to apply a small amount of your favorite sealant to the rubber gasket when reinstalling the frame.

I wonder if Atwood would talk to me... The window did not ship with a gasket. Actually I am a little miffed their window failed in less than three years -and- it was 600 for just the window. I digress. Thanks for the advice, not sure what to do...

Atwood should talk to you, but if not go to a auto window glass company and let them recommend a sealer. Joy, was right it does take two people to get the job done right. A silicone sealer would probably be better than butyl tape.

Read this.
Bobsyouruncle's experience with silicone and butyl is the same as mine. The silicone is going to pull free from the window or the body and leak, the butyl tape won't. Silicone will flex but it won't flex and adhere long term.

Since you have already invested $600 I would go to a glass company and let them do a professional job of it.
