The second span of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on I-95, that crosses the Potomac River between MD and VA, was dedicated this morning.
These new spans were built to replace the old bridge. The construction has taken several years, tied up traffic and cost millions of dollars to complete.
This project has been touted by the politicos as a fix to the bottle neck that has slowed I-95 traffic at this choke point.
So what happens? This mornings dedication ceremony caused a major traffic jam and I-95 and backed up traffic for miles.
And to make matters worse, they won't open all of the lanes for another two weeks.
Oh, our government..... ROTFLMAO

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.
Notice how low the bridge tender's tower is? Curious if cameras are needed to watch for marine traffic. Supposedly space was provided for later installation of rail lines if ever the Purple Line gets the green light. Notice the white elephant on the Maryland shore as you cross over? If it is called "National Harbor" why is it located in PG County, Md.? How many BILLIONS so far for the Wilson, the mixing bowl, US1 mess, and the arteries?

Even in two weeks, they are still only going to have 3 lanes open in each direction. It won't be until the fall that they open the other lanes. I almost put a car into a jersey wall going through that area with the MH. I will now only go through with a car and take the MH another route.
My Dad was transferred to Langley in 1962. As a 9 year old I had to go with him. They were working on I95 then, anybody want to guess what they are still working on? I got the hell out in 1982 and want no part of that damn mess over there.

That whole DC area traffic mess was the sole reason we moved from there when I retired. In this part of WV a "traffic jam" is three cars backed up at the stop sign.
We love it.
No more planning our lives around the antics of idiots, morons, fools and imbeciles.
It sure will be nice when it's finished. I've lived here my whole life and I've been pulling over that bridge for many years. Seeing how things are now compared to then, it sure is one heck of an improvement.
