Ray, Since "dry weight" means nothing in the towing world, you would be better off looking at trailers with a GVWR of 3500 pounds. That way you will have a fair idea of how heavy it might be, instead of no idea at all.
My first TT was a Palomino. Funny how no one ever recommends them.
I found it to be a VERY well built, high quality, light weight little TT with all the amenities of the bigger ones.
My only ADVICE is to 'check out the bathrooms' no matter what you decide to buy.
Go in, sit on the pot and see if you can close the door.
I didn't do this on my first TT and quickly found out that if you were over 5' 6" when you sat down, your knees hit the door and you couldn't close it all the way!
AND this is not limited to small TT's. I've been looking at new MH's and with a split bathroom some of them even have the same problem if the toilet faces the door. Oh yea, and check out where the toilet paper holder is, some you have to be a contortionist to reach it.
Not that I have a fixation on going to the bathroom but I would like to fit, sit and have at least have pleasant experience in the bathroom for what these RV's cost!

so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
I'll have to encourage you to also check out the A-frame trailers (Aliner (manufactured by Columbia Northwest) and Chalet). I think Chalet is better quality but also is slightly heavier. Chalet has one unit with a Dormer that is my choice for next RV. All the A-frames fold down and tow like a pop-up, but are hard-sided and very quick to set-up.

Thanks to one and all for the excellent, expert advice! I clearly see that I should look for the proper GVWR, not the UVW, so as to be on the safe (and legal) side of things. The suggestions of TT's (Casita, Palomino, Cikira, TAB, JayFeather, and Aliner ) are all excellent and after perusing their web sites I see that there are indeed very many wonderful options available to us.
raydf_1 wrote: Oops! You're right: I forgot to specify the type. We were looking into a hard-sided trailer, with at least a queen-sized bed (could be a dinette during the day) and of course a kitchen, dinette, and a bathroom. I'm quite heavy (though not too tall) so a small shower won't do!
Thanks!
windriderjr wrote: What type of trailer are you open to? There are popups and teardrops that will satisfy those requirements. Do you have other requirements? Hard walls, bathroom, queen size bed?
the casita 16 or 17 ft with side table and chairs sounds like what you need, can make rear dinette into bed and leave it that way all the time.

Thanks! I also find the Fun Finder a great trailer, which we examined a couple of months ago in an RV show. I'll certainly check out the other brands.
Cheers!
