When travelling with my neice and nephew, we play the alphabet game....locate all the letter from A-Z on signs and licence plates even logos and ads on the side of vehicles count but the trick is to ONLY do it in order....that way the game lasts longer and keeps them entertained.

We have a camper specifically to take the grandkids, although we are in the process of upgrading for grandparents comfort. My 2 granddaughters love to go camping and can keep themselves very entertained, and the grandparents very busy. They love to "fish" which really means "an excuse for getting close enough to the water for getting wet". But now that they are old enough (7 and 10) to cast and fish with lures, they are stay pretty focused and its not as boring to them.

We take a lot of books and arts and crafts stuff. They love to read, embroider, croquet and out camping there is plenty of time to do it while grandpa naps ...

Teach her to fish - I did that with my granddaughter and now she catches more fish than I do ... Hiking, teach her to build a campfire, let her help set up camp, sidewalk chalk is always a winner, lawn games, catch with those fuzzy tennis balls and velcro rackets, etc...

My wife (gramma) just said a sure fire winner is to let her make "food"... Make food in this case is pretend food made by smashing berries, flower ends, dirt, etc and all mixed in a bowl ... Keeps the grand kids busy for hours...

And of course building the campfire and roasting marshmellows for smores

Don't forget the marshmallows, chocolate bars and graham crackers to make sm-mors (spelling) ... you know, roast the marshmallows, mash them on a cracker with some chocolate.

Jeese, making myself hungry here.

Bluesfan, if you post your email I would be happy to send it to you.
I was having a really hard time teaching my daughter to ride. She was crying, I was yelling... not really the memory that I was trying to make. I picked up this book off the internet and followed the instructions and she was riding in no time. We had a great afternoon and she couldn't wait to get home to show mom and her friends that she could ride a bike.

Are you kidding? At nine years old, she should be verbal. Ask her what she'd like to do. As long as one of the activities is crabbing go have fun. Don't forget to send me a bushel of blues.
