When you guys/gals go camping, do you prefer going with your family only or do you have "camping buddies"?
We just got back to camping in the past 2 years. I had a TT several years back but did not get to use it much so I sold it. I bought my 5er just over 2 years ago (had always wanted one) and we try to use it as much as possible. Some good friends of mine already had a 5er so we got ours to spend more time with them, and of course for the kids.
Anyway, every trip we have gone on has been with them and that's the way we prefer it. We like going with other families we know but especially with them. I like to keep our outings small though, 2 to 4 families at most. We went last year with a bunch of people from work. There were probably 20 families there. I considered it a waste of a trip. It was crowded and noisy and I'll stay at home in the city if I want that.
So which do you prefer, your family alone or with "certain" other people.....

Wow... good question. We actually do both, together and seperately. Our kids aren't really "kids" anymore, so they can come and go on their own. We like to go w/ our buddies thou. We get to talk about different things than we do at home and we enjoy doing our meals together... a community effort.

Agree 100% on the meal thing Ed, especially breakfast. We alternate making breakfast burritos each morning, depending on the size of the group that is. But we all share whatever we are having too. The morning is my favorite part of camping.....

Our kids are grown and so we have grandkids. We love to go with our kids/grandkids and or our brothers and sisters and parents which we do as a family reunion. We either camp with family or just the two of us. We have talked with friends about going camping together, but, it has not happened yet.
20 families would be worse than camping in our yard. No thanks.

Guess I'm not the most sociable person in the world. One, maybe two trips with family a year. Most of the time just DW and me. For us, that was kinda the point.

We're just kinda anti-social types. We like to go alone most of the time. Once a year or so we'll go with my wife's sisters and their others. All the kids have moved away.
And, we like to camp where not many other people are at too.

We are the loner types as well. It's fun to meet other people
though and share your experiences. A few times we have made
arrangements to go camping with a couple that we know but
it turned out not too fun because they invited another couple
(who were as dull as hammers) to join us. Instead of spending
time enjoying ourselves, we tried to get them to enjoy
theirselves and they were not too appreciative.
So.............
alone at last!
