It's right before school starts on Aug 6th, so works for us!
As for a formal vote, we vote for UNICOI.

Someone start counting votes!! I'm pretty flexible. Unicoi works for me. There is mountains, there is water, Helen is close by, lots of hiking trails both in the park and close by. We can't reserve certain sites there but we should be able to get in the same general area. I could setup RoamingRvRadio to transmit music and announcments that everyone could hear on their radio in your RV.
"You're lucky to be alive my friend."
Quote from the "Do it yourself police" and many others that have known me.
Unicoi will work for us too. sounds like it has some good hiking and we haven't camped there before.
Hey Luvpitts, did you ever find out about the picnic shelters?
Here is what I found out. The picnic shelters have to be reserved and cost $40 per day. With 15 rigs it would be ~$2.50 each for 1 day. Not a big deal. They are not situated by the campsites according to their Park Map but this didn't seem to be a problem for us at the winter rally.

I called Unicoi and they do have picnic shelters for our use, $35 per day. There are 4 of 7 still available, and they will seat about 35 people. They are about a mile (more or less) from the campground, on the other side of the lake. Picnic shelter 3 has the most parking, and extra picnic tables around it.
As an alternative to the picnic shelter(s), I asked if we could pitch in as a group and reserve an RV site at $22/day, he said yes, as long as the site looks 'occupied' on the day we reserved it for. This could done by just pitching a tent there. This would save the trek to the shelter, but not provide a roof over us.
They have the following available as I write this:
8 - 40' water/elect sites
10 - 30' water/elect sites
1 full hook up w/ sewer
and 1 'double duty' site where if you both have slideouts, you may not be able to use them as you'd be side by side, and backed in.
So, that's the low-down on Unicoi as of 2:34pm EST 5/19/08.
So far, TWO votes Unicoi, no official votes for anywhere else mentioned on the list. We need to make a decision soon. I'm not in charge, just doing foot work, as it were.
Jan & I vote for Unicoi for the weekend of July 24th. We will have one of those tent covers 8x8 which could be used for food.
Will make our reservations today
Three votes Unicoi, one confirmed reservation, one pending... I guess that's where were going! All in favor? Space is limited, so make your reservations!!
What about the extra space that we all chip in for once we get there? Does anyone want to pay up front for it? Or should we just see what happens, reserve a picnic site, or figure out where to meet once we get there?
Someone that can get there early should book the extra site. I will chip in even if something happens and we can't come. I will probably make our reservations tomorrow. I have something I need to check first.
We are game for Unicoi also. Since you are doing such a great job with information Luvpitts, is the same check in procedure for state parks? You can not reserve site specific, and you pick a site once you get there? If so, we can get there early Friday and try to gab a couple sites close together. Let's see reserve a picnic shelter for one day or a additional campsite for two days? Sounds like additional campsite might be a better idea. I have a 10'x10' canopy for the community site.
Same way. First come first served. Canopy sounds good. We should all probably make some sort of "sign" or something to let the other newbies (Like us!) know who our fellow Rally'ers are! Any ideas?
