Let me start by saying I am not looking to take over the Ga. RVers. I have a group of my own. We call ourselves The RoamingRVers. If anyone else want to make sure the summer ralley happens, it's all yours.

This thread is ment to ask for suggestions for the summer rally. My first choice would be something around water or something in the mountains.

What say you all? I don't plan my weekends around WiFi, cable, or a clear view of the southern sky so I might not be the man for the job.

Copied from the other thread.

God Bless you Rob.
As I write this we are in Carlsbad NM and tomorrow head out for Phoenix. Based on what's been posted here are our thoughts
Jan and I weren't wild about the summer rally at Perry ( thought we were headed for the mountains) and based on what's happened, I've done some research on Google about private campgrounds in north Georgia and came up with 3 that have a building and potential space for 15-20 units. This evening I'll send them emails to see what thay can do for the weekend selected.
The campgrounds are:
1) Lake Nottley RV Campground
2) Leasure Acres in Cleveland
3) Riverbend Campground in Hiawassee
If anyone has heen to these three let us know.
As soon as I get any info I'll be back to this site. I'm not trying to run the group and would like to have maybe three vols to handle with food, recreation and logistics.

We are up for anywhere, we do like to be trying out new places, so somewhere we've not been is always an adventure. The mountains would be good for summer. Is July still the time frame? Or would August be an option? August is more in line with 3 months from the last... Maybe the time frame was already discussed and I just forgot. We do agree that having some form of indoor facility for games and food feasts is desirable.

Three weeks ago we were at Bald Mountain Park Camping Resort in Hiawassee. Not many others there as it was early in the season. We had just over 50 coaches for this rally. They had a large rec. hall that we used extensively. A local rib place catered breakfast and some dinners. Everything was great. Highly recommend it.

There is also a small private campground just north of Helen, Ga. I can't remember the name but I'll look it up. Very nice people run it. It has a nice family feel. There are lots of things to do around Helen.

I have to admit we were looking forward to going somewhere different that is also cooler for the summer Rally.

As far as the choices above, Lake Nottley Ive heard is a nice campground, the owner is a member on this forum. I believe the screen Name is IvyLog.

Unicoi State Park by Helen has a lot of things to do, don't know much else about it. Looks very nice per the GA State Parks website... They have:
100 Lodge Rooms
82 Campsites
Squirrel's Nest
30 Cottages
6 Picnic Shelters
1 Group Shelter
1 Pioneer Camp

Not sure what's available there, or even if it's a good place for our group. But I thought it's worth mentioning...
