I didn't camp there, but I drove through all of the campgrounds while I was at a meeting at the Evergreen Marriott. I was actually very unimpressed with the campground. I typically like a rustic campground, but there were many sites I could not get my 27' TT in. The access roads and sites that had asphalt were very rutted and in disrepair. The area is beautiful with lots to do, but the campgound needs a major overhaul in my opinion.

Actually, your assessment of the campground transfers to the entire park. It is a shame that it is so run down.
Strange that folks say negative things. We stayed there a couple of days last year and really enjoyed it. Had no issues getting my 40ft Raptor in there.
Just shows that people have different visions of decent CGs.
Will be interesting to see what other say as well.

We have stayed there several times and enjoy the park. As others have said, some of the sites are hard to get into and unlevel. We've always stayed on the loop around the pool. All of those sites are level and will hold any size rig. If you stay in any other loop, bring lots of blocks or whatever you use to level the trailer.
We've camped there twice (once end of summer and once at Christmas) and we liked staying in park to do the Stone Mtn stuff. As far as campgrounds itself goes, it was nice but the roads do need some work. Its like they cut through the road to put in utilities but didn't repair road too good. Also, some sites are fairly unlevel. I saw several TT's with either tongue or rear bumper almost touching the ground and other end several feet in the air (with blocks/legos/etc stacked up). For the price, if I weren't doing the Stone Mtn (or other Atlanta area) attractions I would prefer a state park.

We stayed there for 4 days in March,2008. The sites are not level. The front desk staff are not the friendliest. We were in the M loop, at the bottom of the hill. Great view of Stone Mtn. The best sites are the ones in front of the check in area. They have wooden decks, barbeques, a large lawn in front with a playground, pool and the pavilion is right there. The staff says these sites fill up fast. If I were to go again, I would make it a point to stay in one of these. Stone mtn park has plenty to do, get your tickets at the CG, you get two days for the price of one. We stayed in a motorhome, Have a great time, I would go again.

Happy Camper is right. The only spots I would attempt are the one's around the pool.
We stayed there about three years ago in a site that was next to the lake. It was OK. As noted, the roads are not in good condition. The sewer line was clogged, so when we tried to dump, it overflowed and ran into the lake. I told the front desk and they were unconcerned.
We were there a few years back and did enjoy the campground and the park. I did a lot of reserch, RV Park Reviews etc, and found both good and bad comments. There are some sites that will be harder to get into than others, some are not so level etc. We were one site 294 which is the first loop cloest to the campstore and found it to be a nice level site. Only needed front to back leveling. Was a little tight to get into but that was due to fact folks across the road had some folks visiting and were parked along the side of the road. If they had not been there it would not have been problems whatsoever.
I called and talked with the office, told them I had small kids, wanted something pretty flat and no drop offs to the water etc. They suggested this site and we were very please. We do have plans to return and will likely try to get this site again.
There are lots of trees so nice and shady, full hook ups on a large number of sites too.
