A friend down the street picked up a top of the line Laramie Ram 2500 yesterday, this morning when looking at it... No Hitch receiver installed? No 7 way Plug on the bumper installed? Is this now High Dollar options? Anyone else ran into this or is this maybe just a fluke of one truck? My friend plans to go back to the dealer about these issues, but may not win. Bad thing is he has bought 4 previous trucks from the same dealer. Hopefully the dealer will make it right? We'll see.

I haven't seen a HD truck of any brand without them in recent years...

maybe it was special ordered for someone that just wanted a fancy truck, but didn't plan to use it like one..

Maybe the bumper is an aftermarket add on. With the Dodges, the 7 plug connector is on the left of the license plate, and the 4 way connector is under the bumper. I haven't seen a 2500 without the receiver hitch.

Not so sure the dealer will do anything, hey he bought the truck on the lot, did he not look at it?

While I would agree that a 2500 truck without a hitch seems silly, I really have to say your friend should have checked the truck more carefully before signing the papers. An obvious thing like a hitch and 7 way plug should not be so easy to miss. The tow package is still an option even on the 2500 trucks. It is not inconcievable that there are some 2500s out there without hitches since it is not a standard item.

Might not have the towing package - which is a bit of a silly way to outfit a 2500 series truck...but, if the dealer doesn't order it, Dodge isn't going to call them and say "Are you sure?" Sounds like a dealer screw up to me. Your friend should check the window sticker to see if the towing package is listed on it.

The hitch and wiring can be added as a dealer accessory. Cost is a bit more than from the factory, but not all that bad.

I have to agree that he should have looked closer, but I still find it hard to believe that the tow package is a not installed option on a top of the line model. Maybe the idea of a special order truck might be more understandable, since they had to go 200 miles away to find the model he wanted. Just thought I would see what others thought. Thanks

Again,it has always been an option on the order sheet. If the dealer did not check that box, the factory will not install it. Blame the dealer I guess. And your friend for not looking for that item. Guess he actually did not get the truck he wanted huh?

Wow, an '08 2500 and no factory hitch? Sounds like the EXACT thing that happened to my 2001 F-350. Someone from the lot was found to have paid a tech to jack the equipment from my soon-to-be truck and install it on a base model for some contractor. The dealership ordered my stuff in brand new when they found out and also offered me 500.00 in accessories of my choice (that went quick) Hopefully he still has the sticker to refer to, even if he doesn't the VIN shold provide enough info. Of course, I just assumed it had one since it was a PSD.
