The tires on my 5er are balanced. Just as important as balancing your TV tires. You just don't feel the affects of unbalanced like you do with the TV, but they still wear uneven and create rattles within your rig. I would suggest getting it done.

Never have balanced or rotated any of mine but that MAY explain why I generally have to replace them after only 40,000 miles or so. Good luck / Skip

I had the tires balanced on our 5er and it seems to make a little difference, hard to tell from the truck. But in my opinion it has to make a difference, you know what the TV does with an out of balance wheel, you are just not riding in the trailer to feel it like the TV. Glad I did it.

Three years ago as I was readying my new TT for its first outing, I noticed that the valve stems on the wheels were cracking and appeared ready to fail. I also noticed they weren't balanced so I took it to Sears and had all five tires balanced and new metal valve stems inserted. The tech said that the old stems were not the right type for the high pressure trailer tires. So after three years and many miles I'be had no tire problems at all. I inflate the tires to 65 lbs and this spring when I dewinterized it, I checked the pressure in the tires and they had all uniformly lost only about 3 lbs over the winter.

Like others have said, I feel anything that spins s/b balanced especially tires. Heck, trailer tires are junky enough without bouncing them down the road until they beat themselves to death.

Tip #9: Remember to have your tires rotated and balanced according to the tire manufacturer?s recommendations. from the Dexter web site...
Tire Balance and Wheel Alignment
To avoid vibration or shaking of the vehicle when a tire rotates, the tire must be properly balanced. This balance is achieved by positioning weights on the wheel to counterbalance heavy spots on the wheel-and-tire assembly. A wheel alignment adjusts the angles of the wheels so that
they are positioned correctly relative to the vehicle’s frame. This adjustment maximizes the life of your tires. These adjustments require special equipment and should be performed by a qualified technician... taken from a major mfg web site...
I don't believe I have ever read to not balance tires and wheels on any official web site...

Worked at a cab co. when I was younger. we never did balance any of those tires and being taxi`s they never had any type of vibrations, even the newer ones we would put in the fleet!
I even put tires on one of my own cars without balancing them and it rode just as smooth as the worn out tires I took off!
most of the time when you balance a tire your talking about adding a weight of less than an ounce. you will never feel that nor will it cause any damage!

Less than an ounce and balanace is probably not neeeded. However you only know it is less than an ounce by putting it on the machine and then you may as well make it right.
