We used to have an Alpenlite that had storage under the bed. There were long plastic boxes that were installed down each side of the hydraulic mechanism. We would like to do this to our new 5'er and were wondering if anyone knows where we might get those boxes or if someone has done something similar; how did you do it? Thanks for your help!

Depending on how much room is there, you might be able to use some of the PVC fence posts (the 6" ones) and modify them to fit your needs.

In HitchHiker IIs and this Champagne that we own we just put large plastic boxes with lids under our bed and used them to store stuff in. Or some stuff was laid into the storage area like it was a big drawer. The hydroaulic ram runs in a tunnel in the stoage space so nothing gets caught in it anyway.

We got the boxes at Wal-Mart, where else.

Yeah, I'd go with the plastic boxes that you get at Walmart, that fit under a regular bed at home....they usually have wheels on them. You may find that different size boxes fit better, so measure for the maximum height you can fit, as well as the total area, to figure what options you have.

We use low profile plastic boxes. To make them hold more we roll the clothes stored in them. Bulkier items such as winter jackets are laid on top of them. Works well for us.

While we have no boxes under our bed, we probably wouldn't have any room for them. I mean with the 2 sewing machines, 24 bottles of wine, an embroidery module for one of the sewing machines, an ironing board, an iron, 4 full medium "Space Bags" of material. our file box, our case of sewing tools, a cross stitch easel, a 30 quart pot for the turkey fryer, and the leaf for the table up front, where would we put the boxes ?

We use the low profile plastic boxes that you get at Walmart or anywhere for storage under the bed at home, we have about 4 of them under ours and still have a little space for other small things as we cannot fit another plastic box.

DarkRubi you are a hoot. I too like to do needlework and I just about died laughing!!!! I was really good when we moved into this and I limited my embroidery stuff to what I can store in the ottoman. I am having withdrawals but I will learn to live with it. Thanks for the hints on the plastic tubs. What I would really like is to have one long storage area on each side so I can store some long items. So any more ideas would be grand!
