OK, new lurker here. I've been trying to find out just what a "hybrid TT" is. I've searched and read and am still either in a very dark closet or just dumb.
Can some one define just what a hybrid TT is?

PS... hope this doesn't start a fire here....

You won't get hosed for such a question... It's been asked many times. The most generic/popular definition of a hybrid is cross between a hard-sided travel trailer and a folding camper (a.k.a., pop-up). Here's my HTT:

I personally think the better way to define hybrids are as expandables... However, it gets fuzzy when you through in rear slide bed models and some other peculiars.

Some manufacturers call them expandables (but then, other manufacturers call pop-ups expandables, so "hybrid TT" helps to differentiate).

as was said, a hybrid TT is a blend of a conventional travel trailer with a popup or tent trailer. the term "expandable" can define a hybrid and also other types, such as the rear bed slide trailers.
hybrids generally appeal to people who have outgrown their popups or are looking to move up, without loosing the "camping" feel of the popups.
most hybrid owners used to have popups. we did but got tired of all the setup it takes for one. and since we're over 50 now, we wanted more amenities that popups don't have. but we still wanted to sleep under canvas and here sounds of nature. we felt claustrophobic in a regular "shoebox" travel trailer. we might have bought another popup if we hadn't seen a hybrid.

if you have more questions about them, go to the hybrid forum and hyx explorer's website.
