Since the son and I wanted to get the MH out for a run to test the spare that is now on the ground due to my breaking off a valve stem when trying to bend it. We are 40 miles from Piney Campground located on the TN end of KY Lake but had never seen the CG. It is part of the Land Between The Lakes National Park.
Piney Campground is well developed/planned out 383 spot CG on the lake. We got a 30 minute pass (stayed 45) and drove all three sections in our 11'3" 32' Class A MH and never got in a tight spot or touched a limb but we did not back into any spots either. Basic $12, 30 AMP only $18 and 50 amp/water/sew is $32. The phone listed on the CG map is 931-232-5331. The dump with non pot water and close by fresh water source were on a circle drive and very well kept.
Some clearly set up camp for a while and must commute to work. There were many TT, FW set ups and no vehicles around because you can rent for up to 7 weeks without leaving if I read correctly. It is first come first served on a large number of sites. The guard said during the week we could expect to find a spot at will but weekends fill up to the max often. You have to show up with an RV to get a spot, not just someone in a car. After 24 hours you can be off the site for up to 24 hours without special permission. You can have one wheeled RV and one tent or two tents but not two wheeled RV's. The tent would help out in the RV's with no slides.
I have lived most of my life in western Kentucky. This is a great place for a family vacation. As mentioned before, be sure and go to lbl.org and check it out. One of our favorite places is "The Homeplace" which used to call the 1880s homeplace. There is also a great ATV riding area. Another place to visit that has a great state park is Columbus/Belmont State Park in Columbus, Kentucky, it's a civil war park and the RV park overlooks the Mississippi River. This is a view you won't believe until you experience it, absolutely incredible. They have an old fashion burger place in the park that still serves a hamburger wrapped in wax paper. Now the negative, we sometimes go to Florida in the summer for cooler and less humid weather. The mosquitoes from here are so large that they miagrate to Florida in the winter to feed on the smaller Florida mosquitoes. Just bring the bug spray, you'll have a great time!
