My questions would be:
How would they know it was over 24 hours old unless I told them?
Are they going to fix it within 24 hours?
Do they answer on weekends? Holiday weekends?
Why does matter?

We recently purchased a new Wrangler in Wyoming and were offered windshield insurance which was like $695. I should have bought it, while we were in Wyoming we had windshields for 3 vehicles receive damage, the MINI Cooper we traded in for the Wrangler got cracked a week before we traded it, the Wrangler with 53 miles on the ticker coming home from the dealer and one more ding before we got out of the state, and the MH when we were leaving the state. Luckily only one, the MINI cracked the other 2 vehicles were either a chip or a ding that could be repaired.

So far - I only have 2 known glass chips the Diamon Fusion has protected against.
My big concern is if some vandal throws a larger rock while I am driving - it should keep glass from blowing in my face (which could be fatal).
I believe there will be more and more of this with the attitudes of youth today.
So IMHO - Diamon Shield is well worth it.
Everyone gets to decide for themselves what they feel their safety is worth.

After I chipped my windshield and had it repaired, I realized how easy one of these big windshields could be damaged. I called my insurance company and asked if I could lower the deductible on windshield repairs. They said to just lower the deductible on the comprehensive portion of my policy. I lowered it to $100.00 and it raised my policy my $64.00 a year.
I figured that was a better deal. I live in California and the insurance companies don't assist on windshield repairs.

jess33 wrote: I had this treatment applied to my last two motor homes. The first one I never had to use it, however we recently purchased a new 40' DP and had the treatment applied. On our first long trip we had a rock hit our windshield and crack it. When we returned two days latter I called to make a claim and was informed that they would not pay the claim because I had not called them WITH IN 24 HOURS. And sure enough in the fine print on the back of the policy it does state that one must call within 24 hours after the incident or the policy will not be honored. But The man who answered thr phone suggested I get the treatment again after I put the new windshield in and I would be covered for the new windshields. I told him that I would only be ripped off once and I would never recommend their service. A new windshield for My Rig is 2750 dollars. I called my insurance company and the Windshield is covered under comprehension. My deductible is 500 dollars. Talked to the glass shop who is replacing my windshield and he says that he has never had a claim that was covered under Diamon Shield that paid off. The Bottom line is that it is very expensive, I paid over 800 for the policy and I would recommend that anyone be very careful when considering buying Diamon Shield. As far as I am concerned it is a rip off that the RV DEALERS push because they must get a pretty big commission from selling this useless policy.
Have to question if jess33 knows what he's writing about. Diamon (sic) Shield?? Not on any windshield that I know about. Diamond Fusion?? Yes. If the author is so wrong, I must question, or doubt, his facts.

As said, if you do get a chip/crack in the windshield and do not notify the company within 24 hours, they will not honor the claim.
I think I will pass. I think someone has to read Diamon-Fusion's "Mission Statement
Vision
Core Values" Back to them. They seem to fail on the "Integrity" and "Customer Care" portion of their "Core Values". See here:Diamon-Fusion International's Company Profile.
Maybe the words of Mission Statements are meaningless in this day and age. Nothing but a piece of paper that just is meant to look good to the CEO at the headquarters?

I had the Diamon-Shield applied this summer. We were heading to the FMCA convention in Oregon and drove through a bug storm. The little critters were smashed all over the windows. We finally stopped for the evening and I used an abrasive pad and a razor to restore visibility. The window treatment was being sold and applied at the rally. So I decided to give it a try. Probably the reason for technician application is that the window must be spotless, and I think the liquid is toxic. Other than that, no real expertize seemed required. I have no idea if my windshield is safer. But it has been almost a year and it is so easy to clean. No water spots, even when the neighbor aims the sprinklers in my direction. Expensive window treatment, yea, I guess. But to each their own, and I'm happy with my purchase. Hopefully I will never get to report on the ability of the treatment to protect from road junk. By the way, I used RainX before. It did not even compare to the bug resistance of Diamon-Shield. They say it will help in the rain also, but I tend to travel out here in the West, so no rain, hope it helps in a sandstorm.

escaper1 wrote: The problem I see with it is it will wear like the front end protection which is not good. After about five years or so this stuff is pretty scratched up and needing removed with a window you don't have to worry about the paint coming off but it could still be a hassle. I know if I get mine off the front I may not go back with it. I have had the vynil bra and none on different coaches I remember very few chips without any protection and everyone I am hearing from that gets this stuff off has to repaint and I believe that is what we are trying to avoid. So why have the added cost of the film on there too up wardss of about $1200 plus paint.
After almost 4 years and over 40,000 miles, my Diamond Shield still looks good. Is it going to go South on me within the next year. I am careful not to clean it in a way that will scratch it. I made one small spot and learned that lesson. I really believe it should be at least 10 years before I need to think about a fix. I use the coach about half the year and when I store it, I always face it North. Maybe not facing the sun has helped??? When using it in the summer, I still try to park facing North if possible. In the Winter, I try to face East for the morning sun through the windshield, and still avoid the hotter afternoon sun. Of course, that is not always possible, but when it does work, I think it probably helps.
