I'm new to taking regular prescriptions, so I haven't yet gotten into the mail order routine. I just transfer them to my new location each time I want a refill. I was using Walmart for a time, but I've had it with them. Long lines at their pharmacy counter, and many times transfering seems to throw them for a loop.
This time I tried Walgreen's and it was a done deal with 3 min. on the phone, then a drive up window for 2 min. and I was out of there.
Now that's good service.

Nothing WRONG with Walgreens as long as you can FIND one. Walmart locations are such that you can hardly take a wrong turn without running into one. I have also been somewhat concerned about the high incidences of prescription errors reported at Walgreen pharmacy. I just place my Walmart order on line a couple of days prior to pick up and go in at slow times during the day (usually early to mid morning) and seldom find lines.

Plus, Walmarts is now adding hundreds of Rx to the list of pills that they sell for the reduced ($4) price, and will supposedly fill the 3-month Rx for $10. Not a bad deal at all. I'm thinking of giving up on my mail-in Rx service through my company plan.

Your experience with Walmart is one of the reasons why we've stayed with CVS. Just to buy daytime Sinus meds is a big ordeal at WM.
But occasionally one of DH's RX came out as $0 (zero) at CVS, so even Walmart couldn't beat that price. Usually they charge less than our insurance co-pay.
Once we transfer our RX to new store, the rest of the trip, I order online and choose the day/time I want to pick it up. Love that service.

Walgreens and WalMart have been fine...no problems at all with either one of them. Yes, there are more WalMarts around but if you can find a Walgreens I would go for it!

I use rite-aid and have had no problems at all as they are networked like Walgreens, Walmarts ect. I just prefer Rite-Aid. If I'm away from my home area as I am now I simply call my doc and they fax the prescription to whatever store I'm near and give them the fax number. if it's a controlled medication that requires a Dr. visit then I simply use a local Urgent Care facility and they can contact my primary Physician if needed, plus I like to keep him informed anyway.

We've always used a mail-order pharmacy service but, I agree, Walmart's prices and availability are hard to beat. There have been a few times where we missed a mail connection. One can never be quite sure when mail will arrive at any given location. IMHO, Walmart should be applauded for their efforts to keep costs down, especially in these times when virtually everything keeps going up.

I would not be concerned about the price as much as I would if it were a class 3 narcotic.(sleeping pills,Xanax ect. IT can only be transferred 2 times. People think that if they go to WG's, wally world or any large chain drug co that they can pick up their prescription at anyone of these. Not SO!!! Ask your Dr. for more than 1 prescription before leaving home. I will get a lot of flack from this post. Call your Pharmacists before you type the flack
