I'm looking at possibly purchasing a new Dodge 3500 with all the bells and whistle. (Yes, this will be the last truck I buy)I hope. Anyway, if I were to pay cash for it, what if any additional discount could I hope to get out of the dealer. I know Dodge is running some incentives already right now, but could I expect some additional discount.

I'd say that you'll be able to get a great deal on it because of current market conditions. Not so much by paying with cash. the dealer gets a check in a day or two from the bank when finance, thats as good as cash. Sometimes the bank will even go so far as to give the dealer a bonus for sending business their way. But usually it ends up as a wash for the dealer weather you pay with cash or not.

You are in a perfect place to deal. You have Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg,ID and Tonkin Dodge in Portland that are dealing at close to invoice to move trucks. Paying cash remember that they will loose the financing bonus, but so what? Not our problem is it? Yes, I would suspect that you can get really close to invoice plus factory incentives easily. Just be careful on that $2.99 gas for 3 years offer. There is a cap on it and after the calculations the cash back is a better deal.

At least in Canada, there is also $1500 cash back to current Dodge truck owners as well.

Also be sure to check incentives. We were prepared to pay cash for a vehicle and there was an additional incentive if you financed. After thoroughly reading all of the small print to make sure there wasn't a prepayment penalty, we financed, got the incentive, then paid the loan off immediately after it was set up. Cost a few days of interest, but we saved an additional $500 (I think that was the amount) by "financing". Doesn't hurt to check.

what does cash have to do with it, with the dealer??????? you are not going to give THEM payments..

Now trade on the other hand will make a difference..

I like when I sell something, Someone will try to bargin with me....I will give you XXX CASH right now.... What do you think I was going to give it to you on payments..

Cash from you, or cash from a bank is still cash in their account either way..

Cash is stronger on a private party used vehicle IMO.
But you should get as good a deal as anyone else.

I like to sell for cash, but doubt cash will get you a better price at a dealer.
When I priced Smith, the salesman I talked to said they typically didn't order 3500's with a hitch, just fyi. You will really like the new Dodge

From my experience, the dealer didn't give me as good of a deal for cash. The reason was because the dealer lost the kickback from the finance company. The dealer gives the finance company the business and the finance company gives the dealer a couple percentage points kickback on the loan. For cash, it would have cost me more. Unless as mentioned already there is an incentive for financing with no penalty, that's a thought worth looing into.
