I'm ready to install a Sirus radio antenna on the roof of our Class A MH.
Does it need a metal ground plane of some size?

I'm thinking of just gluing a round piece of sheet metal to attach the magnetic antenna somewhere above the drivers seat.

Any advice or suggestions?

I have XM radio, but the antennas are the same. I have mine on the inside, on top of the TV, above the dash. It works just fine through the fiberglass roof, and I didn't need to drill holes, or attach anything to the roof.

That's what I did - works great.

I have my Sirius antennae inside up against the fiberglass roof and it works fine.

I got mixed results in the overhead compartment on the last coach but this one works fine there. To answer your question, I just used some 5200 marine adhesive caulk and attached the antenna directly to the roof (no metal plate). It stayed there for about 10,000 miles and we traded in. steve

I installed mine last week. No you do not need a ground, this is not terrestrial radio. Mine is glued to the fiberglass cap up top.

Stick it down to the fiberglass with 3M 5200. Just make sure where you want the antenna the first time as 5200 doesn't let go. No ground plane needed

Mine was installed by Winnebago at manufacture. They just attached it to the top of the fiberglass roof.
