Link to story at PickupTruck.com

"...reveals the six-speed automatic 5.4-L V8 will achieve 320-horsepower at 5,200-rpm and 390 lb-ft of torque at 3,500-rpm. The new numbers are a modest improvement over the 2008 Ford F-150's 300-hp at 5,000-rpm / 365 lb-ft at 3,750-rpm.

The 5.4-L V8 uses Ford's new 'open valve injection' technology. As the name suggests, open valve injection injects fuel into the cylinders while the intake valves are open (instead of closed like during conventional combustion cycles). The incoming air improves the mixture of air and fuel before the 'charge' is ignited. Ford says the result is increased horsepower during towing, higher RPMs, and an improvement in emissions from the more efficient burn."

And...............The world yawns.

Sorry but I just can't see the general public hopping up and down to buy a F-150 with fuel prices the way they are.

For Rving it may be nice, but the number of RVers is shrinking daily.

Get ready for the lowest selling F-150 ever.

Maybe us Canadians will buy because as far as I've heard RV's are flying off dealer lots up here and we're $1.30/Litre or $4.92/US gallon. People up here still speeding, waiting in drive thru's to buy coffee's buying trucks, etc. Nothing is changing as fast as you'd think.

They are gone. If you want one you'll only be able to get them on F250/350.

That is a nice improvement without a major redesign.

And I just bought a 2000 Class C with the "big" 300hp V-10.

I am being aware of gas prices but trying to cut other corners to keep my camping alive.

I figured they would have found a way to be on par or better than the Tundra numbers, but I guess MPG would suffer too much.

The only thing I would call to your attention is that the numerous last generation Tundra owners that post here are quoting some pretty decent MPG's for having 381 H.P. and 400 ft/lbs. of torque.

I am sold on my diesel Cummins, but I think that powerful 5.7 Toyota Tundra gasser engine is pretty impressive in the fuel mileage category.

Let's see, it is a 330 ci smallblock engine making 320 HP and 390 ft lbs of torque (delivered at 3500 rpm). Anybody that has been around the block a few (too many) times can see that those numbers are impressive for such a small motor. The Ford haters would never give it a break so we wouldn't expect it to be no different now would we. Those Toy guys wouldn't tell a fib would they?
