Just another reason to check and double check before launching. The bedroom emergency window (the one with the 8" latch that pushes out) was not properly closed and about 2 hours into this particular mountain stretch of road, I noted in my side mirror that the blind was flapping around OUTSIDE the window. Stopped to discover the entire window was gone! Didn't help that I left the overhead vents open (I usually do) and built up the inside pressure. Blind was ruined too, of course. A glass shop in the next town stopped everything, cut a piece of fibreglass to size, and sealed/riveted it in place. Nice folks! Total cost $62. Guess I'll have to replace, as law requires emergency exit (even though we have two doors). Dealer says will set us back about
$300 plus a new blind. Check, check and double check. Think I've gotten a little cavalier about checking things. I hope this will keep me more alert. Be aware!

Thanks for the posting. I had never thought about that and are little GD gets in the bed sometimes and plays around with that window. She popped it once and I got it latched back. Sorry for your problem but thanks for the sharing so the rest of us can learn.

I lost one of mine after leaving it at my dads ranch for a couple months and let other realative stay in it. Did not think to ck. I was lucking and ordered a new one not sure the cost. They ordered it in and when she called she said forest river/cherokee covered it under warranty.
Good luck and newbies reading this put it on your to do list.

I agree with above! Thanks for the heads up. My DD has that bunk and the kids were messing around back there the other day with the windows. I am going to check them out when I get home.

I don't know about that whole 'leaving the vents open... building up air pressure'
But I have had mine come open and it caught my eye in the mirror - I've been luckly so far, its happened twice and I haven't lost the window yet. You'd think I would have learned the first time.

Does the law say you have to have one installed or that the manufacurer has to have one installed to sell it? Big difference in that if there only has to be one in place to sell it, you can replace it with a regular window if you choose. It would probably be easier to just replace it with the exit window, but it might be worth checking on. Of course the dealer likely wouldn't replace it with a regular window so you would be on your own there.
Just food for thought.

On the way to Florida last year, we stopped at a rest area and when we returned to parking lot I made my little walk around ritual. I looked at the hitch real good, the tires, went around the back of the trailer and started down the doorside of the trailer and almost overlooked the emergency window. Walked past it then backed up, noticed that the screen was crooked before I noticed that the window was partially opened. Almost never got the screen reinstalled and had to adjust the latch to the window but was lucky to have avoided the loss of the window.

Reminds me of a friend's story of when they were driving, his daughter of about 8 yo, got up to use the toilet. She came back, didn't say a word. About 5 minutes late they noticed the noise. When they asked her what happened to the bathroom window... she said, "I tried to opne it and "poof" it was gone."
After alot of laughing by her brothers and Mom, her Dad asked her that next time the window goes "poof" to let him know!!

Sorry to hear of your mishap. We had the same thing happen to us last year on our way home to Ca from Utah. Except it was our front side emergency window. All of a sudden DH pulls off freeway and I say what?? Were we speeding?? He says no the trailer is flapping! We now zip tie both emergency windows shut for travel. I added it to our trip check list.
