Have a 30' Outback 5er. It is an 06 bought in 07 and the Duros are not looking good. God willing I'll make it home from W yellowstone with them, taking it easy, but if I have to buy new ones can 16" fit on this unit (have 6 lug rim),what is the benefit? Seems like more selection in 16" than 15". I don't carry alot of weight when we traval and almost always empty my tanks except for some fresh water 1/3 tank. Thanks for your input

Biggest benefit...no blow outs from poor quality tires only road hazards! I would do it in a second if our Springdale had enough clearance but it doesn't! Just not a viable option for us at this time.

There is no question that you have more options with 16" rims. Looking through the Michelin truck book and RV tire guide, Michelin doesn't even offer a 15" tire. I faced the same decision last November. I could stay with 15" tires for about $400 or go to 16" for $1500. I don't think I will have this FW for more than another year so I stayed with the 15" rims. BTW it seems the best 15"er is the Maxxis, load range "E". If I had a new FW I would have 16" rims!

FW = 2000, 30ft Sierra by Forest River

Remembet two things:
1. I carry a gun, because a cop is too heavy.
2. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

If you have to raise the trailer, there are a few options, we opted to add 1 1/2" blocks between the axles and springs (which were already on top).

i think your trailer can take 16" set up. i have a keystone cougar and upgraded to 16" i went with new aluminum rims that has a -8mm offset(1/4") and lt225/75x16 BF Goodrich commercial t/a e-rated tires. you can get either aluminum or steel rims(i could not find any american made),check this site www.tralertiresandwheels.com. speak to scott, he sells chinese tires too but i went with the BFG's cause they were made in USA. he has to most knowledge i found from anyone from any store, anywhere. also, my new set up is only 1" taller than the 15" set up. see what kind of clearence you have above and around your tires now. you may be fine. another note, my other tires would always loose pressure but my new ones haven't lost even a pound in two months and they ran noticably cooler. good luck, Craig

You may want to look at the Titan E rated 225x15 tires(80psi). I had problems with my Goodyear C rated tires over-heating with their max 55 psi. No over heating or blowouts for me with the Titans during the past 3 years. It probably depends on how long you plan on keeping your current 5'er?
