We are planning on buying a 5th wheel and going full time. We have bought our tow truck a 2006 Chevy 3500 D/A LBZ LB CC DRW. We have narrowed it down to 3 units that we like the best. At the top of our list is the Carriage Cameo 37RE3. Number two is the Doubletree Mobile Suite 36RSSB3. Number three is the Hartland Bighorn 3580RL. Any information from anyone who has one of these units would be appreciated. Also if anyone has a Cameo with a convection microwave oven let us know what the size of it is. The dealer talked to the factory and all that he could come up with is that it is biger that the standard microwave. I would also like to know were to go on the site to add my sig. Does anyone know of a Carriage wholesaler? I Found a dealer that we can get the Bighorn from with allmost every option for under $48,000.

A great dealer that has great service and very fair prices is Tiara RV sales in IN. There URL is http://www.tiararvsales.com/.

Talk with Chris. Best Cameo prices I found and it is a great trailer.

Your truck 3500 will be at the max with the Mobile Suites. If I was looking I would really take a look at the Double Tree Select Suites. It's within the limits of a 3500.

From what I have seen it's just a stepdown from the Mobile. I also think it carries the same insulation specs. Which I think is close to being the best in the industry.

The Mobile Suite comes with 8000 lb. axles and disc brakes standard and has the soft touch ceiling were as the Select doesn't. I also belong to the diesel place forum and many of the members pull over 20,000 lbs with their 3500 D/A's. I'm installing a Banks Ottomind 6 tunner on my truck today. This will give me close to 400 RWHP. Banks tests their programers pulling 20,000 lbs.

Horsepower has nothing to do with the legal weight limits of the truck. My truck is not stock but that does not mean I can leagally haul more weight with it.

It is absolutely no use trying to tell someone they can't on this forum; it'll take a catastrophic incident to open their eyes and you're wasting your time trying to educate them of the whys and wherefores...far too many pulling overweight think it's just fine.

I don't agree with the word "legal".

I think, if you check with any LEO, they could care less what the GVWR of the vehicle is. They care about axle weights, tire ratings and what the truck is licensed for.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!

Since you're planning on fulltiming, I would go with the MS. Doubletree offers the highest R values (insulation) in the industry. Best of luck with whatever unit you decide on.

The max towing capacity of a 3500 DRW is 15900 lbs., I believe the Mobile Suite is over that or at the max.

I have the Bighorn and if price is a factor you cant go wrong. If I had money to burn the other two would also be on the top of my list. You might look at the Heartland Landmarks, a step up from the Bighorn, and get a few more goodies.
