Turned air on in first hundred and three weather today. Breaker (thirty amp)tripped off a few times after cooling. When I went to trip the switch the box was hot! Not good?
Not feeling good about this and worry that something wrong, really wrong, might happen when I'm away with animals in motorhome.
I am clueless as to whether this is something I might be able to repair if it need be (new breaker?) Help!! T.I.A. Tony

Sounds like a breaker problem. Is the breaker in the RV or external?
On my 5th wheel there is a 20Amp breaker in the RV for tha Air.

103 temp is hot, not sure what size ac unit you have but the compressor is probly running constantly. this will cause the breaker to run hot due to power demand.if breaker is too hot to touch i would get a replacement, run fans to help assist air ciculation. worst case i purchased a evaporator cooler from home depot or rent one they work great for temp. solution.

The breaker is in the RV, air is on 30 amp, box is still hot but not as hot as when air was on. Actually I think it might be just that one breaker and is radiating heat to the rest of the switches to the right of it.

check it when it cools down outside, ac will run less(compressor)which won't put such demand on breaker which should cool down.

I should have mentioned that until I became a full timer I lived a pampered and sheltered life. Meaning I could afford to let someone else deal with this and not miss a heart beat. Not so now, this is my puppy and I feel like , like a wus not remembering if this is a simple task of removing culprit circuit and moving on if I don't electrocute myself in the process. So: next question. Should I disconnect batteries if it comes down to replacing a circuit? AND... is it no more difficult than say replacing a fuse?
Tomorrow is expected to be worse and we have two extra bodies to accomodate. Needless to say, I would like the visit to be as comfortable as possible.

If you are going to replace the breaker, and I think you should, unplug the power cord, remove the old breaker, get a new one at HD or Lowes and install it. Plug in power cord. Battries do not need to be disconnected. You can do it. Good luck. I'm at Menifee and it's going to be a cool 98 today.

Didja unplug or shutoff the shorepower, then check all connections for tightness ? A loose connection can cause stuff to warm up when the goin gets tuff !
Changing a breaker is not hard to do, but must be removed (popped out) the right way. If you look at a new one, you can see how it must be removed,....like the right end first etc.

Just a note, you might also be having a low voltage problem. If the area you are pluged into is below 104 Volts it could very well run the amperage up and cause the breaker to trip. Might want to check that side of life out also. Bill

Also, verify voltage. Low park voltage caused by everyone running their A/C's will make your A/C draw more amps.

And make sure nothing else is running on 120 VAC such as water heater electric element.
