We put the hitch head in a box and put it in the back of the truck (for short trips we just leave it on the truck).
The bars go into a jean bag I made that sits in the pass through compartment. See my mod link in my signature for a picture of it. I will be re-configuring it pretty soon here as I got a better idea but for now, this works great.

I bought a fishing pole bag #18791 from Collections Etc. It has a zipper to adjust the length and it is just right. Less than $10.00. I just grab ahold of carrying handle (and adjustable straps to balance weight) then put it under the bed.

Y'all's hitch heads must be a lot lighter than mine ...
I get that sucker up in there at the beginning of the season and leave it attached & locked until Thanksgiving, or so. (Much to the chagrin of my wife's shins)(She complains about hitting it all the time ... but I don't care, it's staying put).
If I want to lift weights, I'll go to the gym (not saying I'm going to the gym, either)(I'm going camping).

I pull bars and place them on A frame behind propane tanks unless remote boondocking, then put them in back of TV. I painted hitch and bars fire engine red (Rustoleum) and use bright tennis ball on hitch ball.

I would be too afraid to try that. I have to jack up the rear of the TV just to get the bars into the L-brackets and there has to be tension and a lot of it either up or down that will jerk the draw bar is some potentially unknown direction. I simply remove the draw bar and WD/Sway bars along with the pins and L-bracket retainers and put every thing on the floor in my Van. I do tie a plactic pag over the ball whether I leave it connected to my Van or when I remove it for visibility and the prevent grease or dirt from getting where it shouldn't be.
Again I can't envision how you could hook the whole thing back up to the TV with everything connected talk about potential angles and height misalignments.

This is what I was thinking. I can't visualize ever being able to get the height at a good level to drive away without removing the tow bars off the L brackets end. My TV is jacked up at most sites, trying to get the Bar Tension Neutral so I can remove the bars, so the same would apply trying to drive away. If I pulled out there would be a big sudden dropoff with the rear of the TV. Also at the State Park sites around here, barely enough room for the TV to park at the end of the site (TV has to remain parked on the Blacktop) so a Hitch Head with Shank sticking out would be dangerous for the TV and the shins. To each his own however! Whatever works (safely) for ya! That's what makes it interesting, there is always more than one way to make it happen.

I think someone is yanking our chain...I need to see a video of it. WE all know how easy it is to put it on You Tube.

I jack up my trailer tounge just enough so there is no tension on the pen when I pull it out, then just drive out. By taking the tension off the pin it pulls out easy and there is no sudden bang when you pull up. The tounge weight of the trailer is resting on the jack. What's so complicated about that?
