Hi all,
Wife and I just bought our first RV. Its a 1993 Sunline T3060. We are brand new to the world of rving. And when we bought the trailer the dealer told us every thing worked on the rv. Well after getting it home. I plugged the trailer in and turn the frig on, waited a few hours went back out to see how cold it was. Only to find it was still warm. I then unpluged the trailer and turned on the gas and repeated the same steps. This time the freezer got down to 50. But the frig was still warm. Took it back to the dealer. They had me leave there to check it out. I got a call saying everything was fine, freezer was down to 6, and frig down to 34-35. Then they told me with TT you have to plug them in 24 hours before you want to use the frig so they get cold and then they are fine. Is this correct?
Thanks for any info. Bob

It will normally take overnight to get cold. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

We cool ours down faster by placing frozen items in the freezer. If placing warm items in refer, it does take a long time, usually overnight.

It does take a few hours to get cold. You should be able to feel a difference in a matter of 3-4 hours, but it will not get down to desired temps for about 12 hours. Your dealer should have had everything running when you took possession and walked you through all systems.

Depends how hot it is outside. Mine usally takes 12-24 hours to cool down. I always make sure that I precool all of my drinks in the house frig before I put them in the RV before we leave.
Have a great time camping,

Noobs here too. Our first trip we turned the fridge on to LP for the 3 1/2 hour trip and by the time we arrived and leveled, etc., the fridge was cold and ready for food. Ours is new tho, and it was cold outside, so maybe that makes a difference?

I agree with putting a jug of frozen water in each, the fridge and freezer. Helps cool things down faster. A small fridge fan also helps. Those folks who choose not to run their fridge while in transit will sometimes leave one or more jugs inside to keep things cool until they reach the CG.
I usually pre-cool mine on LP at the storage lot overnight before leaving the next day, so I don't really know exactly how long it actually takes to get to the desired temp.

Actually, I'm going to disagree here with the majority. It really shouldn't take more than 6 hours to chill the fridge and that's only if it hasn't been used for a long time and the inside temperature is in the comfort range for people.

It takes ours overnight to cool down enough to put food in it, but the outside temp during the day is 105+ sometimes. We pick it up from storage at around 5pm and the next morning I pack all the refrigerated food in it. About 12 hours during the overnight hours, longer during the hot summer days though. Its normal for it to take that long, don't worry.
