We have two new 6.7 CTDs. One in a 3/4 ton, automatic, and one in a 1 ton DRW with a stick. With about 4000 miles on the 3/4 ton, the check engine light came on. Taking it to the dealer, they say all kinds of stuff. It appears that the turbo is dirty, and the sensors are in need of cleaning. Whatever it may be, they kept the truck for 3 days, and said it was ready. They cleaned what ever was dirty. After leaving the dealership, about a mile later, the light came on again. Took it back, they did some magic stuff, and the light is off again.
Last night, in the 1 ton, the light came on. There are 4500 miles on the truck. I see 30 pounds of boost on my gauge, so im not gonna buy that the turbo is not allowing enough boost as they said in the other one. They replaced the turbo completely in the 3/4 ton.
Anyone have a horror story that goes along with this? It seems the repair center is lined up with 6.7's to work on.
Your dealer is inept. There is a technical service bulletin that will solve the check engine light coming on. It is a simple "reflash" of the computer loading new software. They may have cleaned a oxygen sensor module, but that is just a very temporary fix as you have found out.
We had the check engine light come on but it went out by itself in a couple of days. Has not come back on. Earlier this month our AC quit putting out cood air. Dealer found a loose connection. Less than a month after we got it last October there was a recall that consisted of a reflash for something. Had it done. I loved our 2001 Dodge CTD, kept it longer and put more miles on it than any other vehicle I've owned over the last 50 years and I like the 6.7L even more than the '01. Better in every way except unloaded highway mpg. Towing mileage is the same as the '01 but it does the job easier.

Common among 6.7s, check the diesel forums, some are trading in for the older 5.9s.. The only folks that are having any luck are hot shotters, they work the heck out of them, their not for city driving for sure.
Had the same problems with mine,Engine light,on,off,on,off.
A friend of mine is the tech who works on my truck at my local dealer and he told to me to use the engine brake, supposedly this heats everything up and cleans any soot off of all the sensores that are jammed into this truck.
Seems to have worked so far,I did have to replace the pcv bypass with 8500 miles on the truck. Everthing seems good now.

I have great service out of my 6.7 and I am anything but a "hot shotter". Guess if you could buy a new truck you would be happy with it, but since you can't, you bad mouth the new ones.
