Yesterday we replaced our well past age G159s on the RV with a fresh set of rubber. While seriously expensive, the ride improvement was just short of amazing. The RV now roles down the road and doesn't feel like a city bus going over railroad tracks all the time. Koni FSD's are next.

I wish you had done a search on the forum for the G159 - I managed to get Goodyear to offer up $100 a tire when changing from G159 to G670 due to the ongoing 'issues' they are having with G159s on Motorhomes. I have put 2 other forum members in touch with GY to get the same.

Steve,

Thanks. I have been monitoring for a while now. The date codes were 1996 though. Well past any acceptable limitation on any remaining warranty issues folks have had with the G159. We purchased our rig last season and discovered the true age of the tires at the time of purchase. We just decided to wait over the winter before purchasing new since it was going to sit all winter. Thanks though. I got some credit for them since the the G159s are now going on some farm trailer that the shop had the rims in for. The new 670's ride is sweet.

Well... I don't know if your enthusiasm is a bit premature. Our coach came with Goodyear G670's as original equipment. Goodyear has had to replace all six tires under warranty due to an unexplainable wear pattern after only 20,000 miles. Just had a friend have the same problem. Goodyear had to replace his two front tires and then found one of the replacements bad. In fact, if you visit the American Coach forum, you will find MANY unhappy Goodyear G670 owners!

Safe travels.

What is the unusual wear, wouldn't happen to be on the inside rib would it? That is where I found wear after my last 1800 mile trip and it just rolled over on 20k miles.

Has this been the case here on this forum? This is the first thing I've seen on it.

Cheers

All you need to do is look both here and at other sites. In fact, here is a link to a thread on Goodyear G670 problems going on here right now.

The wear can be on either the inside rib or the outside. The wear I had was a band running all the way around the tire with some spots being wider than others. In fact, when Goodyear replaced all six of mine, we found the wear pattern on the inside rib on the inside rear duels. They had never been out of that position.

In addition to the six they replaced for me, as I mentioned I had a friend just go through the issue with two of his front tires. I also had a friend that had all six replaced in January for the very same wear problems. Additionally, the inability to balance these things is a problem. When they did the replacement of mine, they had all sorts of trouble getting the balance issues resolved. The Goodyear dealer even had their factory rep. involved.

Safe travels.

Hmm, this is not good. I was hoping that I had scanned all the forums well enough. It had come down to the XZE's and the G670's. Hopefully we have not made a mistake here. I would appreciate a link to the american coach forum, so I could track this. We plan on putting a couple thousand miles on the new tires this summer, so you can bet that we will be watching the wear pattern closely. So far so good and they are really a nice ride compared to the old G159. Although the wear on the G159 was really great for the short time we had to drive on them. I think the older G159s might have been a better tire than some of the G159s I had read reports about. Please keep posting the feedback you may have on your G670s. I want to make sure we don't have a set of bad tires on the rig here.
