We just got home from a trip to southern Utah, staying at the Zion River RV Resort outside Zion National Park. The park was almost 2/3 empty. I don't know if we just picked a slow week, arriving on Mother's Day, or is the economy and gas prices starting to have some effect on RV travel. We did notice considerably fewer motor homes on the road during our 850 mile round trip. Has anyone else noticed less RV traffic on the roads?

We went up to Zion today to take a walk and let the pooch cool off in the river. When we drove by the Zion River RV Resort a few hours ago it was pretty empty. Both South and Watchman campgrounds at Zion were also open and no wait at the tunnel either. There seems to something of a reservations snafu in the works at Zion this weekend and maybe that had something to do with it. Overall the park was much quieter than usual imho.

We are traveling along the East coast and the park where we are at was full this weekend and most parks in the Northeast are sold out for memorial day weekend, we have to skip Boston and head straight to bar harbor to get a reservation. Also fuel is 4.05 and the food is high here (. we are in Mystic seaport area at "Aces High" RV park (excellent-very large grassy sites).

Just got back from SW Colorado. I think 2/3 is fairly typical for this time of year. We do most of our traveling in this, the "shoulder" season. I did not notice a decrease of traffic...again, for this time of year. Still had to queue up at gas pump on the weekend. I wouldn't want to be out there next weekend without a reservation. Zion River may still be suffering from the repercussions of the flooding a couple of years ago....though you wouldn't know it when there. I was there in March and it was in good shape.

We were in the Canyonland's of Utah last week on a trip from Loveland, Co. Dead Horse Campground was full but we stay in BLM lands anyway so that did not bother us. We felt like there were fewer people around and on the roads that we take which do not include many interstates. The weather presented all four seasons during the week. Sometime in the same day! We did have to go into 4 wheel drive coming over Cameron Pass between Walden, Co and Ft Collins, Co. There was fresh snow and was glad I had chosen a 4X4!
Every trip is a great trip and this one was no different.

We stayed at Zion South last Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. Both South & Watchmans were full and turning away people each day. Don't know about the private parks. Were really impressed with the South Park, lots of trees and well organised. Short queue at the tunnel Wednesday morning. Beautiful NP.

Just left the Moab area today. When we arrived on Thursday most of the campgrounds were full and there were a number of no vacancy signs on the motels. There was some kind of ATV rally there this weekend.

We stayed at Zion River Resort for Easter weekend and they were full. Only one site available one night and two available sites the other night so it must have just been an off weekend. I called to confirm reservations for our annual Memorial Day trip to Richfield, Utah and they are booked. Also I cancelled some reservations for some of our party for our June trip to Moab and they had a waiting list. I don't get the feeling many people are staying home due to fuel or anything else for that matter. Mike.

We were at Colorado NM this weekend. They had to open another loop, but still didn't fill up (even though it was the weekend of the big Mike the Headless Chicken Festival! Of course Fruita has gotten a lot of press recently as the "new" Moab for mountain bikers. Probably 2/3rd of the CG was filled with mountain bikers. I did notice a lot of us were "locals", i.e. within a couple of hours drive. I do think the parks of the intermountain area are effected more by high gas prices in that they are quite a bit further drive from major population centers than parks on either coast.
