We recently bought a 90 model TT and the fridge smells awful. It reminds us of a dead mouse smell! We've washed it down several times with bleach and water, greased lightning and used odoban(sp). We've left the door open for weeks and within a few hours of closing it the smells back. It does matter if it's turned on or not.
The only place you can smell it is in the fridge compartment, the freezer seems fine. You can't smell it outside at the access door to the fridge, you can't smell it under the fridge as this is where the hotwater heater and furnace are located and you can open that area up. It's just in the fridge.
Any suggestions???
Thanks,
Randy

Another odor absorbing trick is to fill the compartment with crumpled newsprint. Close the door and leave it for several days. The paper will absorb the odor, and can be discarded and replaced several times, at virtually no cost.
I used this trick to "clean" a freezer of fish odor on a boat.

Grind up three charcoal briquets and put them in a bowl in the frig. Close the door for a couple days. Open and remove the charcoal. If smell is still in frig, repeat. You can also use a pet odor remover called "Nilodor". It is excellent. Find at a pet store
Oh, wash inside of frig with water, dish soap, and baking soda ONLY! Nothing else, that should be in your frig manual. That plastic inside the frig will absorb orders from cleaning products.

The smell is actually in the freezer compartment as well. With the doors open for a few days there is no smell at all, but close them for a few hours and it's there. Doesn't seem to matter if the fridge is on or off.
We washed it down with baking soda and water last night and poured out two boxes of baking soda in the freezer and fridge. If this doesn't work I'll try some our your suggestions. Please keep them coming because it's really really bad.
Thanks

I haven't tried it on a refridgerator, but when a cooler gets something nasty left in it,I wipe it down with Vanilla extract.
The Vanilla extract tip was actually in the literature that came with one of my coolers. It works well.

I've researched on the internet and found several reports of some fridges smelling like ammonia because of an evaporator leak. I don't really think that is what ours smells like but might be. Would you be able to smell the ammonia even with the fridge turned off? We cleaned it out and left the doors opened for days and could not smell anything, but within hours of closing the doors you could smell it when you opened it back up and we didn't even have it turned on..
