I passed by a nice-looking place in Thurmont, MD called the Crow's Nest Campground. I researched it when I got home and found the place doesn't have a website. Has anyone stayed there and can offer an opinion?
Thanks!
Cheers!

We camped there many years ago in a popup and it was ok then. A couple years ago we drove through the park and were not impressed at all. I don't have anything good to say about it, however I was looking at it as a campground for a 36ft RV.
Maybe if you have a smaller unit, it would work out.
There is also Owens Creek Campground if you have a popup or tent.
Check out Cunningham Falls State Park just down the road. It is a lot nicer.

Agree with above.
I would MUCH rather camp at Cunningham Falls.

Cunningham Falls would be probable nicer to stay at. I live in Thurmont and Crows Nest looks to have several permanent campers there year round. I'm not sure who is hanging out at this place. I would not call it a campground.

We camped in Cunningham Falls this past weekend. Very nice place. It's well run, has clean bathrooms, nice areas to walk, bike, paddle etc. all around. I highly recommend it. Stay in the William Houck Area. We liked the Deer Springs Loop on top of the hill.

Cunningham doesn't have full hookups, is that correct?
The only reference I saw online for Crow's Nest said that there were unconfirmed reports of two sex offenders living there permanently.
Thanks for the advice, folks!!

Yep, agree with all of the above. From the road it doesn't look too bad, but it's really pretty dumpy. I've heard the "sex offender" rumor, and a rig of any size would have a hard time getting in/out/parked.

Full Hook-ups are not available, however, there is one area (the Addison Loop) where you can get electric.
Here is a link to the State Park.
Scroll down and click on "map of the area" and you will see the loops, etc.
Happy Camping!

Crow's Nest is a definite No-No. When we took a ride through it I was stunned by the power boxes nailed to trees!!! Not sure how up to code that is. All and all looked pretty rundown with many older permanent RV's in disrepair. I agree on the suggestion of Cunningham Falls.Plan to hike to the falls and check out the small zoo nearby too.

Heres a map of all the registered sex offenders in the Thurmont, MD area. I don't know where Crows Nest CG is on the map, maybe one of the other posters can look at it. Clicking on the little squares brings up info on the offender.
Note I can't get the link to bring up the Thurmont Map. Click on the Family watch dog home page link below, then enter Thurmont MD and it will take you to clickable map of the area.
