I have four Direct TV boxes. I moved one to an RV, and used it in Pittsburgh one entire winter, then switch back to the cable connection at the campground. The leaves on the trees blocked my signal by then anyway. That's the only time I've used it in the RV. I don't recall, but don't think I did a waiver of any kind, besides, my wife was still in Texas.
Now I've retired, and the fifth wheel is on some ranch property I have. I intend to be back and forth from my house near Tomball, Texas to the ranch near Trinity, Texas.
Tried to setup direct tv at the ranch, and I get a message – authorization expired. Am I going to be able to use direct tv at both locations? OR, do they expect one to be disabled? And if that is the case, why did it work for an entire winter in Pittsburgh?

if you had the receiver unhooked or unplugged for a while they will deactivate themselves. Just call direcTV and give them the error msg and the last 4 digits of the access card and they will send a signal to re-authorize that box.

The rcvrs need to be connected and on or they will lose their synch with the system. Just call Directv and you can have them reset. You can usually do it with the push button menu and don't even need to talk to the helpful agents.

No need to call DirecTV to reactivate your receiver. You can do it online in 5 seconds.

I have been told the following from DTV:
You must turn on the receiver at least every 30 days to sync with the system or it will boot you off. Just needs to be re-booted by the system. you can call or go online.
