Cedar Creek makes a nice 32 foot triple push out 5th wheel. I think its about 35 feet long. Your truck and that 5th wheel would be about 51 feet long when hooked up. My truck pulls my 5th wheel with no problems. I've towed it about 25,000 to 30,000 miles. We went cross country a few years ago. We were able to get a site every where we went. With the high price of fuel I'd think twice about a 39 foot 5th wheel.

Good luck

Sounds like the dealerships salesman is trying to get rid of something that not to many people will be buying for awhile. The larger units will more than likely be sitting on the lots for awhile with the price of gas and diesel. With the added weight of the larger units you are going to be over your GVWR on your TV so just make sure its something you can live with.
JMHO but with the added slides some of the smaller units say 28 to 34 foot have more room than some of the single slide larger units that weigh alot more.

A 3/4 ton diesel truck will handle many of the 30 to 31 ft fivers, but any bigger than that it is hard to keep the weights within the limits of the truck.

Leaving weight issues aside, we recently sold our 39' (model size 36') 5th wheel. We sold for reasons other than size, but we found that 39' was just a bit too big...
...never found a park we couldn't get into, but often had very limited choice of spaces and more than once we had to wait for the spot across from us to be empty in order to pull out.

My 34 model actual length is 36'4" and that is the max limit for my comfort level. Had a 33' that really was 33' and the extra 2' will make a difference on some sites in some parks. Toss out salesman chatter and pick the layout and length that suits you the best. Friends have a 31 model Hitchhiker with a similar layout to ours and the biggest difference when comparing against our 34 model is storage space. Storage may not be a factor if you just weekend or vacation for a week compared to someone that may winter in their rig. Randy

I have taken my 38' fiver all over the country, 37 plus states. I have found very few palces where it's length is a real problem.. I have a 2500HD also & with the 38' fiver we are 53' overall length when hooked up.

We are finding that with our 37' we are not able to visit some of the parks we used to with our 28' trailer. If you can find a long back in spot with enough room to maneuver accross the road for the corner of your truck it's not a problem. 5th wheels are as easy or easier to back around corners. The problem I have is going forward around tight corners. Many of the long sites I've seen are "pull through right" meaning you have to turn right off the road then left to follow the site around. 5ers don't track behind your truck like your travel trailer did, they cut the corners. If you've got a couple of rocks or trees preventing you from turning wide enough you risk taking out the utility post as you come around the pull through. I won't reserve a site at a state park unless I've already scoped it out and am 100% sure I can get in.

I have a 36ft and pull it with Chevy 25 hd diesel and no problem. I am with other post don't go with what dealer says most buy. Mine is actually larger than most I see and it feels big. There are some nice 32-34 ft plans that will probably give you more room than your TT. The storage and easy of pulling the 5ver is worth it. I will never go to a TT. another big factor I see going down the road is the way many of the tt walk and I do not have that problem and ususally passing the tt.

So, also something else that no one pointed out. Most TT measurements include the front A frame/hitch. Most 5th wheels are measured from inside the front wall to inside the rear wall. So a 32 5th wheel will have several more feet of room over a 32 TT. Storage also is much greater because of the raised over lapping front deck area.

Get something in the 29 to 32 foot range and it will match up to your 2500HD fairly well. Many tow larger units with the 2500HD, however when they upgrade to a 3500 dually they will then say that it handles the load much better.

We bought out 5er and didn't realize just how big it was sitting there on the dealer's lot. When we got home we said "WOW this is long". What we did was sized ourselves right out of most of the state parks in Washington, which we really enjoyed. Get the length that is right for you and where you like to camp.
