My parents are talking a long trip in their B+ motorhome and have just run into problems...

The AC is not working. The fan runs and the thermostat clicks and shows that the AC is on (Hunter digital unit) but the compressor never starts. I've had my dad check for tripped breakers (which is not really a concern since the fan runs) and for loose wires and he found nothing.

The generator is also not working. It's a Onan and it won't crank from either the inside control or the control on the genset itself. He has DC power. I'm thinking there must be a fuse somewhere for the starter circuit on the generator but I'm not sure where to tell him to look (it's not in the converter distribution panel).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Mike

Mike,

Our gen has two breakers on it. These are not in the breaker box but on the unit itself. Look on your unit. These somtimes trip.

Good luck.

Looks like the generator wiring came loose at some point so that was an easy fix.

The service guy my Dad used blamed the Hunter digital thermostat I installed and replaced with another junky RV unit (which sucks since the one I removed is sitting in my garage). I wasn't there to explain things so that's the way it went. It was probably a defective Hunter but it's too late now.

We were parked at a site that had no hook-ups & tried using our champion 4000 watt generator to run the AC, it worked the first time but the next day it would run but the generator started smoking & so we turned it off. Can anyone tell us what might of happened? We have misplaced our book that came with it.
Thanks It never shut the breaker on the fifth-wheel down but did dim it.
