Has anyone stayed at this park? How is it? I called Victoria Palms and they won't take 2 month reservations until Dec 2. What does that tell you? They are not interested in anything under 3 months? HHUUMM!

Your comments would be appreciated.

Texas Trails is ok, nothing special one way or the other. Most of better parks won't take anything less than 3 months. Don't have to.
My park is sold out for next season and has a waiting list. The difference between Victoria Palms and Texas Trails is pretty big.

Alamo Palms is owned by the same family as Victoria Palms. The sights are not as large. It is a little less expensive and has a very active recreation program. It is also known to be a very friendly park. It has three Canadian TV channels on the cable system. They will also not take reservations for a certain site for less then three months but they have always had some sites at anytime in the last four years we have stayed there.

The RGV parks have such a large number of 3 & 4 month residents that they hold out for them. At a later date, when it seems likely the site may not get rented or they have a late cancellation, they take shorter term reservations. Pretty much all of them work that way.

We stayed there 2 years ago and weren't impressed. Prices were ok, convenient to shopping and restaurants. 2 nice pools but the self proclaimed "pool police" were always watching to make sure you were showered before you entered. Failure to do so was a misdemeanor. And heaven forbid if you stepped on the shuffleboard court or pushed the pucks the wrong way with the sticks. Both felonies. We were parked downwind of an orange grove next door and one morning woke up with everything sticky with orange pollen mixed with Tx. dust both in and out of the rv. We still find it in cabinets. But I suppose that can happen anywhere in the south.

Try Tip o Texas in Pharr Or Casa de Valle in Alamo, both are very nice with many activities. However you don't really need reservations at many parks, just come down & look around until you find what you like. The past 4 years there have been plenty of vacancies.

I have a feeling that with the current price of fuel, there will be many vacancies available this winter in the RGV(and elsewhere snowbirds visit). There are some that just won't(or can't)pay what it's going to cost to get there and back.
Like pawatt said, I'd come on down, and I think you'll find you can get about anything you want. Some parks will be begging for short term guests.

We have gone to the dances at Texas Trails but have not stayed there. From what we have seen, it seems okay. It's a Wilder Corporation park, and seems pretty typical of those. Tip O' Texas is also a Wilder park, as are Winter Ranch and Trophy Gardens (our park) in Alamo, and some others in the Valley. Those parks are not as fancy or expensive as some of the others, but they are nice enough with plenty of activities and generally nice people.

Many of the larger and more expensive parks have some off the wall rules. One, doesn't allow swimming in their heated outdoor pool. Only walking around in it or sitting on the edge. Some women were complaining that swimmers splashed water on their hair do. That same park does not allow non residents to bike thru the park nor walk thru. Of course they welcome you to their paid activities. It is their park and they make the rules. Most of the parks are Winter Texan friendly. With the prices of fuel and other things this year I expect more of them will become more lenient of their paying customer's wishes.
