What if Rockwood actually built it right the first time. Another Roo with a defective front bunk. I am surprised Rockwood even offered to fix it. Greg Rollins did nothing for me. Now I just own a water damaged, leaking Roo 19 that Forest River won't take responsibilty for.

There is an obvious defect but Rockwood continues to build it and take money from unsuspecting customers. I see a class action suit if this continues. (Yes Chuck S I said law suit)can only hope prospective buyers read these forums before they purchase and stay FAR away from Forest River products.

I'm going to have to agree with NH Camping on this one , I've got a 2007 183 R/Roo and to be honest I'm totally dissapointed with the Rockwood units, I was intending to buy a KZ coyote CT22 but felt it was a little Heavy for my T/V so we opted for a Rockwood instead ,I did my homework and read up on the Rockwood line and felt it was Going to be a good buy, Well at the end of it all I have too say I wish I had spent a bit more time looking for overall build Quality, These units are poorly assembled and the Fold Downs are a poor design compared to the competion. Not only does My trailer leak front and back but I dread pulling it in the rain, As for Storage.....Dismal..Poor plumbing layout takes up 1/2 of the small space thats available, all the little Storage blockoff deviders may have well been hot glued into place , As for the wiring below the trailer I couldn't imagin what moron made this mess wires pulled so tight you can play the roo like a banjo, Wires juming out of the harness and back in for no apparant reason.
I'm sorry If I've offended anyone but I've used my 183 7 times now and I'm prepared to cut my losses and drop it for a KZ,CUB or a Kodiak.
Our dealer in Small Town Ontario is an Absolute ignorant SOB and dealing with Rockwood is like talking to a Rock ! They could absolutly care less.
There is only one good thing about a Rockwood....Resale value !!

I have to agree with Chuck on this one. Looks like FR is trying to do the right thing here instead of just having the dealer shotgun the fix. While you may be without a camper for some time hopefully this will be the end of your problems.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

JMO............ sue? for what? By the sound of it, they are taking necessary steps to take care of the situation. I'd have to agree with either getting a loaner trailer or wait until the off season to get the repairs done. My Roo had a front bunk leak too, selling dealer replaced seal and added another - problem solved! I think I will re-seal all of my clearance lights just for good measure, though!

Good luck, Mark

Don't over look the piano hindge. We had a water leak and it was found to be the hindge not the seals. Turns out, when the hindge was installed, they did not put the sealant on the correct side of the hindge. With the bunk end down, I could actually see day light at some points along the balck seal. Simply put the bunk end down, pull back (lightly) on the black seal (checking for day light on the door side of the hindge) and see if you find any spots where you can see light.

Dealer took apart this winter, fixed the seal on the hindge and all is well now.

Have heard of others besides Forest River having some issues so your logic is flawed. In fact, my parents had a Jayco that had more problems than Carter has little pills. But my own Jayco was a great unit. Our 09 Roo has the full seals and such and from what I've read Forest River has made repairs or replacements for those that had problems and obviously since they've changed it on the 09 design, they learned the lesson and made the changes. What's the point in all this lawsuit talk? If you have the case and the documentation , then do it already, but why does it have to be page after page of **tching about it on every camper forum by the same couple of people? If you're prepared to 'cut your losses' and get another brand, do it already. You don't need anyone's approval from online do you? It just makes this whole topic sound more and more sour grapes and looking for an excuse to try to get something for nothing as is the case in so many lawsuit eager people. There will always be issues in any thing ( ever realized how many recalls on cars, trucks, appliances, just about anything you buy there are? it happens. document everything from the minute you buy it and if it's a lemon, then you have relief available and if you have relief available what's the point in posting "I'm ready to do this or that" on the internet? do it if you have the case. Good luck. There's plenty of lawyers out there willing to take your money to do it that's for sure (yeah I have a JD and admitted to the bar in 3 states and fed dist court cert although I'm doing something else now out of disgust with friv lawsuits as if you couldn't tell)

Ok, I'm off my soapbox now. I will just ignore the future posts on this, and if you were offended by what I said - sue me.

Everyone tells posters to "move on" or "calm down" until it's their 15K rotting piece of junk in the driveway.

Then it's different.

I Agree !

Three years ago I stopped in at a RV service centre in Orangville Ontario. Ca? I had a really nice Chat with Peter the owner of the place.
He is strictly a service Shop for RV's of all types, At the time I was mulling between going hybrid or a Travel Trailer (AWARD...used). When we spoke about Hybrids his remark at the time was "they are all the same" "They will all leak sooner or later" "It's the bulk of my work " When I put it all together for the size of trailer I would require going the hard side route, would far exceed the space I have in my Driveway as well as My TV Towing limitations. So I was going to play it safe and buy a New Hybrid, I did my homework, I went thu this site as well as a few other RV forums and decided the Rockwood 183 fit the needs the best.....Laid down the cash and in 1 I trip started kicking myself for not looking at other options first.
I ranting because not only am I disapointed in myself for not seeing some of the potential problems with the trailer before I drove away with it, But also because I feel that Rockwood is building a poor quality unit, Unfortunatly My dealer is 2 1/2 hours away, And he's probably the most unhelpfull person I've yet to deal with . And Forest river has yet to resopnd to a single Email or Phone call over the last year...And we bought a 1 year extended warrenty.
So clearly you can see my frusration, From water damage front and rear, stained matresses to Pine tar/sap on the rear bunk ends (From the dealer). Plus a few other items that should not be part of the "New trailer experience"

Sorry for the Rant

Ron
