For those traveling through Susanville NE California:

All the fuel prices along Main Street are the same. The station owners are in collusion and post the same price within minutes of each other (yeah, I know that's illegal. The county District Attorney has repeatedly asked the state attorney general office to get involved, they refuse).

The Diamond Mountain gas station/quick mart (corner of Skyline Dr and Paul Bunyan, by the Casino) is on tribal land, so runs about a nickel cheaper than Main St. It is also easier for the bigger rigs to get in/out than the Main Street stations.

Okay, I guess I stand corrected: Herr Leader has increased production, US consumption is decreasing, world consumption is flat, and we don't need no stinkin' refineries.

Gas prices were at $1.61 on 01/01/2009 ...wonder what happened right after that date?

Gas prices were at $3.62 on 03/04/12 and have risen since then.

I guess everything is just running well, i'm sure in another four years we will be driving those flying cars were were promised in the 1960's.

this my second attempt to post as the Mod likes to delete my posts.
The Electric cars most likely will be recharges at night when the elctric load is at it's lowest point.
If we EVERstart to rebuilt the grid we will welcome many more wind turbines to help this all reduces the need for oil.
As we RV we should lead those efforts

Mine charges 12a to 6a almost every night. Actual time is closer to 2 to 4 hours.
No grid is more than 2/3 capacity at this hour.

All vehicles will never be electric so don't worry you will be able to buy gasoline for a long time. Actually the use of electric should put downward pressure on gas by reducing demand. Even 10% market penetration for those willing to give it a go will make a significant difference.

Try to imagine where we would be if we bought no oil from OPEC.

In the mean time I get around the city about 1500 miles per month on $60 of electric. And this is in CA where super off peak night rates are almost double the national average anytime rate. The best part for me is the smooth quiet effortless power that is unlike any gasoline vehicle.

I don't know where you got your numbers. I looked at the Energy Information Administration website (http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_gnd_dcus_nus_a.htm) and found $3.299 in 2008 vs. $2.406 in 2009.

If I knew how I'd post a pix of the graph.

Anyway, I don't think Obama reduced gas prices by $0.80 in 2009, IMO the pres has very little effect on prices.

Prices around just went up to $3.89 from $3.79 for a gallon of gasoline. Diesel is up to a high of $4.19. Yup, we're going to see $4.00+ before May. AAArrrgggg, the stock market is down 112 points. Almost down to 13,000. There goes the extra $$$ for fuel. It will be Plan B for sure.

Those brownouts were the consequence of illegal market manipulation by Enron. It was all proven in court and billions of dollars in fines levied. A couple people went to jail, but Ken Lay escaped jail by dying.

Electric Vehicle re-charging is a beneficial thing because it occurs at off-peak hours and uses capacity that is otherwise unused.

Well...... I see electric vehicle sales are so splendid that another one has filed for bankruptcy protection to hold certain creditors at bay.

That's the glory of our system, isn't it? That the fittest is determined by struggle and competition, not by a desk jockey in a government bureau or a giant corporate office.

There is more oil in storage as we speak then ever before in history. Ships are sitting idle off the coast for the last month filled to the brim. It's a fact.

Something is up people. Something very big.

Can't believe it! Never could happen. Oh. Wait. Same thing in the 70s with the first oil embargo. Tankers hanging out below the Chesapeake Bay, not proceeding to Baltimore.

Not being big on conspiracies, I've always wondered if there was a business reason for this phenominon. Amazing how our news sources have pretty much done away with investigative reporting in favor of the much less expensive method of obtaining news copy - press releases.
