I don't know... are you. I had them throw in a fireplace and a porcelain toilet. Do you think I was asking too much? They will jump at the chance to replace the battery if you say they can keep the camper if they don't add what you want. Just be ready to do so. Don't play the bluff game with them. Tell them you want TWO of the model 27 batteries and watch how quick they add it.
Do you really think they are going to miss a deal because a little battery? I think not.

I think if you read the post, he already accepted the trailer...
incentive is gone and with luck replaced by good will...
you can ask for the 27, and point out it is the recommended battery by Jayco... if he won't do it for free then offer to trade for the difference in price... he may just do it even for free, give him the chance...
you are correct about the starter kit, it is from the mfg... at least most of them... the battery isn't part of the starter kit though and is generally added by the dealer...
you will need the 27 if you dry camp and use the furnace even just a little bit...

I didn't see that part about "already purchased". Yep, bargaining is pretty much over at that point. You could say that you have a friend that is really looking for a good deal in an RV and you could point that person in their direction with enough incentive, and a battery would be a good starting point.
..The 'starter' kit many RV dealers provide with a new RV purchase, typically comes with very cheap pieces - 10', cheap sewer hose, plastic (not brass) pressure regulator, etc.
If you don't 'nail down' the dealer with a specific agreement otherwise, the starter kit and all the 'cheap' components is what you will get. Since this is typically being 'thrown in' with the deal, the dealer has every incentive to make this as inexpensive as possible (and they will).
Same thing with the battery - Dealer typically provides this as part of the deal, so they will provide the absolute cheapeast battery they can get away with, usually a group 24 marine battery. Such would be fine if you always camp with hookups, but if you plan on boondocking (camping without hookups), it ain't going to do.
If you're serious about boondocking, I would not even waste time trying to get the dealer to put in a group 27. Doubtful they'll do it now that deal is done and dealer has your $$. If they did, it'd probably be another cheap one, anyway, not one you'd be happy with for boondocking.
Instead, I'd start looking around for a pair of 6 volt golf cart batteries. If you don't have room for two 6 volt batteries, then look for a good, true deep cycle group 27 battery. Thats what you will want, for boondocking.

About the battery; Jayco states in the TT manual that "The 12 volt system is designed for usage with a Group 27, deep cycle battery."
I neglected to ask about the battery before signing off on the TT.
By the way we definitely will be doing some boondocking.
Also I didn't expect the dealer to exchange the battery without me paying some to boot.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Give the dealer the benefit of the doubt and tell him that he had installed the wrong size battery. Point out in the manual that Jayco states a group 27 battery.
My dealer pulled the same thing, I mentioned it to the service manager and it was taken care of pronto. I also mentioned that I had checked with Jayco customer service as to the correct size.
If he balks, tell him you will check with Jayco's customer service.
I believe that the battery is part of the purchase price of the trailer and the correct one should be installed.
By the way, I brought the battery question up to the dealer after I had camped for a weekend and noticed the wrong battery install.
The starter kit is generally thrown in by the dealer. It really isn't worth that much, maybe $40 and the sewer hose is el cheapo but if you can get it, why not. The hose and pressure valve are worth a couple of dollars.

When we got our new TT earlier this year I asked for a group 27 in place of the group 24. Dealer said no problem as the cost difference was miminal. Also the starter kit that came with the trailer had a very good quality waste hose.
Just ask. They may say no but it can't hurt.
