Any info on Brown's Town campground? The last review in rvparksreview is 2 years old. Or any suggestions for a 3 day stay.

Brown's Town is about the cream of the crop for Bishop.

still dirt interior roads. Some sites with water and electric only. There is a dump station which I believe is extra. There is a charge for showers last I heard also. If you need full hookups Highlands RV park is the only one. More of a parking lot atmoshere than brownstown. Mid town is diamond j which is part of the mobile home park. I don't know much about that one. There are some nice FS and BLM camps around the area. They are even more primative but nice.

I just returned home from fishing in that area. We stopped by Convict Lake and took a look around. They had a very nice campground there at the lake. I don't know if they had hookups or not, but it was a beautiful setting. There are quite a few CG's on Hyw 395, so I think you should be able to find a place that is will suit your needs.

Convict Lake is a minimum 40 minutes North of Bishop. If they are fishing in Bishop or staying for the town of Bishop - they won't want to drive 40 minutes past it to drive back to it everyday.

Convict Lake is also a state park and as such has no hookups at all. Completely dry camping. Brown's town is ok, kinda old, but has trees for shade. Yes, you do have to pay extra for the dump, showers and such, but still good place to stay. At the other end of town there is a newer park (Highlands, I guess) but it is a very nice park but sites are fairly close together and most do not have any shade. Stayed at both and prefer Brown's town.

We use Highland RV Park on 395 on the north side of town and it is a FH park. Have fun

havedreamwilltravel,
I was just pointing out that there a many places to stay in that general area. I was staying at June Lake and we drove the 15 or so miles to Convict to try another fishing hole.

Brown also has a campground at the north end of Bishop that is nicer with hookups and away from the highway noise.

We were in Brown's Millpond campground (the north end one Doug and Cassi refer to above) for a week and liked it. We were there in the fall and there was almost no one there. Small creek down the center of the campground and trees for shade. No dump station, though. It is convenient for day exploring the entire Bishop and Mammoth area.
