dbates wrote: According to what chassis you have (Ford or Chev.). Our local Ford service center will change the oil & lube "most" of the grease zirks. Because they don't have a pit or hoist big enough for a MH he can't get to all of the zirks. His charges (with oil & filter) just under $26. I found a local truck service center that will do everything for about twice that much. Which is still 1/2 what the RV dealer was charging & they are 80 mile away. Since my maintenance manual says to lube every 2nd time the oil & filter are changed I rotate between the two.
Dave What zirks can't they get to without a lift? I do all my service including oil, filter, transmission fluid, filters and lube and I don't have a lift.

Most places here won't touch a MH, either won't fit thru the doors, or they don't have a lift big enough, or something. Found a local shop that will work on em for fairly reasonable, although they have had a # of price increases in the past year (still cheaper than the RV places though). Just need to call around to a few places, or DIY.

$59.00 plus tax is outstanding. I just purchased the oil filter and oil to do mine and I paid $10.00 for the filter and $51.00 for the oil(5gal.)

If you're somewhat of a DIY'er, it's actually easier than a car. There's a lot more room to work underneath and no, you don't need a lift to do an oil and lube job on the MH. Frankly, I'd rather do the oil/filter and grease job on the MH then on mine and my wife's cars.

My husband does ours all the time & has had no trouble doing so.
He does the oil change on the generator, & the engine & whatever
he has to do to the transmission. I believe he does the air filter
on that. He puts the old oil into the old bottles & takes it to NAPA or some one who takes & disposes of the old oil. When it is time that the generator & or transmission needs the big stuff done he will take it in. Why pay someone $300 or more to do something you can do yourself unless there is a physical or handicap issues. That money will help buy gas/diesel now. It just takes a little time.
safe travels & make alot of memories

I would like to do it myself as the other posters have stated. I don't know anyone who will show me the ropes . One wrong move on engine lubrication and the engine will have a very short life. So, I bring my coach over to the Cummins dealer and they do it for me. Jim

I have all my maintenance work, and repairs, performed at Willie's Shade Tree Garage (in my backyard). Getting rid of the old oil is not a problem.

Not only that, but you don't worry about schedules, losing anything out of the motorhome, or spending additional monies.

If you have a diesel, just make sure you have a large enough container for the old oil.
If you want to make the job even easier, get a Fumoto valve.
