DW an I just got back from the Canyon (May 6th) and stayed at Trailer Village because of "maximum total vehicle length" restrictions at Mather( my truck/trailer=38'). Various information available on web AND at Grand Canyon say anywhere from 30'-40',no one could give me a straight answer. So we booked 5 nights at Trailer Village because they had a site available (not “woodsy” like Mather but fine none the less). We decided to walk the loops at Mather, a short walk from TV, and see for our selves if we in fact could get our pint size 18' TT and 20' 3500 in one of the spaces. Sure enough there are PLENTY of great spots for a 40' combo hooked or unhooked. We also took photos and logged the "best" sites for us the next time we want to go. Can now reserve online and plug in the site # we want.
Had a great time and the Spring weather IS the time to go....Fri. and Sat. are busy around the rim but Sun.- Thur. is mellow.

These site #'s will accommodate 30'-40' of MH/TT. This list is NOT a detailed list of ALL the sites, just the sites we were interested in for our 38' of TT and truck. Some pull through's are tighter than others but they will work with a TT. Sites with a * were extra "sweet" IMO.

There are a number of RV parks in Williams, AZ. Thats about 30 - 45 minutes away, but with multiple parks in the area there would be no need for reservations. Maybe stay there one night and move your RV if there is space available at the Canyon and you like the facilities there.
We stayed at Railside RV Ranch in Williams for three nights and drove to the Canyon from there. Nice base camp.

We were there for 4 days last July and it was really nice... HOT but nice. We did our hiking and site-seeing in the a.m. and made it back at the TT and chillin' by lunch time. Nice campground but you have to deal with those who don't follow the rules RE: generator hours, noise, etc. But that's an issue most everywhere.
We got a weekly rate at Railside RV Ranch, in Williams. Yes, the drive to South Rim takes an hour, but from Williams we also went to Flagstaff, Sunset Crater and Wupatki. You should get up early and get going, to avoid the crowd at the gate, and to get in some hiking before it's too hot.
Williams has a neat little "downtown" with stores, restaurants and a Safeway market.

I just stayed for 3 nights at the Trailer Village over the Memorial weekend. If your interest is seeing the GCNP I don't think you can beat it. It has full hookups, although they recommend you do not leave your sewer hose hooked up as the ravens in the park apparently like attacking them. So I just hooked up as needed and it worked out fine. You have water and cable hook up as well.
It's not a parking lot. There are some trees, picnic tables and grills. It's right on the free shuttle route, and within walking distance, 5 minutes, of a general store and a cafeteria, and 5-10 more minutes of walking and you are in the main village.
Don't just rely on the Net for reservations either. When I checked on line it was full. I called just in case and they had 3 nights available. More likely than not I just got lucky and someone had just cancelled, but hey I got lucky so you may too.
