My TH has the cheesy futon mattresses on the rear queen bunks. They aren't the most comfortable things I've ever slept on and I'm wondering if I should go with a memory foam mattress topper, a high density foam mattress from a foam distributor, or a traditional homestyle mattress.
I'm looking for comfort (back support) at an affordable price. If you have upgraded your bed what did you go with, how do you like it, and how much was it?
Thanks

I started with a decent queen-size Sealy inner-spring, which was a little too firm for my liking. A 2" memory foam topper made a significant difference (about $100 at Target). Since then, I went crazy and added a 2" feather topper (another $100). I'm in bed early and it takes me a long time to find the floor in the mornings.

3"memory foam from Sam's Club for $130 is amazing. DW brought it home and I laughed. After I tried it, I told her to go get one for the home bed.

I bought a Innerspace Foam Mattress from www.wallacesalesinc.com for the house. Several months later they offered the same model mattress cut to RV sizes. I liked the Residential model so much that I bought one for the TC last summer. I stay out in the TC (mancave) sometimes when my daughters have girlfriends stay over, and I sleep very well. These mattresses are imported from Italy and come with no freight charges on UPS rolled up, to your home (or campground if your a fulltimer). Good Luck with your choice.

With our original TT mattress, a short queen, we were able to buy some time using a good memory foam topper along with an "egg crate" foam pad.

We replaced the mattress with a nice pillow top full mattress we found on sale at Sams Club....only $300 bucks, and it's just as comfy as another mattress we have that cost three times as much.

Check your measurements, but if you substitute a full size mattress, you have more options and can save some money. Finding a good short queen may be a bit more difficult and costly if you want a good one.

I got a queen size mattress at Furniture Row for $149. It is a regular house mattress and feels pretty good. They just raised the price to $199, but I thin it is still a deal. My bed lift works a little harder and it is about 8" thicker than the original piece of junk mattress.

The 2 1/2 inch memory foam topper from Costco made our Queen bed usable. This was a couple of years ago and at the time it was $118.
