Well, our Memorial Day weekend trip was...well, let me just say awful. We got there at about 6:30 Friday, got set up, all well and good. Our friends got there, we played games, etc.
Until...at about 4:30 AM we started hearing the distant ominous sound of thunder. Soon after, rain. more rain. and more rain, and storms. Until about 1:30 Saturday. It finally stopped. The temp. through all of this, a whopping 48 degrees! Whoo, hey mom let's get the boat and go down to the lake, I want to ski!!
Anyway, it was just miserable. My dad got frozen trying to figure out the furnace for mom, Mom was stressed, our friends were on end, and I was stuck in the middle. We all decided to see the new Indiana Jones a few miles away in Kirksville, and that was okay.
The only good part was Saturday evening, we played Badmitten, ate smores, and had a good time. Then our fiends called home to get the weather. 50-60% chance for severe t-storms Saturday night and Sunday. So we decided to pack up our pup's at 11:30 at night and pull out, and drive 2 hours back home. It was quite an adventure.

Tyler, I'm sorry things ended up on the "could be better" side. Although I would gladly exchange my weekend alone in a Houston hotel for your camping trip. Plus now you have a very interesting camping story to tell others.

Take care.

We had a camping trip like that once when were still tent camping. We were camping with some friends at Davidson River in NC. And it rained all night the Friday night and they were calling for more rain on Saturday. So after breakfast we packed up and came home. But when we got home the weather was beautiful, and my friend and I decided that we would just camp in the back yard. That night the wind almost blow us away. But it was still fun and we still laugh about that weekend. What memory

First trip in the then new pup was much like that. Setup in the warm. sat by the fire first night. Woke up to rain, and cold. stayed that way till we came home. It even snowed just up the road from us. And we had no furnice, and no space heater. That was the time I learned that heat strips in the Ac don't heat the pup.
But you know, We had a blast, Snuggled under the blankets, sat up and played cards. It was great.
You have to take the bad weather with the good. The good times make the bad times worth it.

Our weekend too was rain and cold. It stopped long enough for our nightly fires. It was even nice enough to hold off for us to take down on our last day. We made the best of it, wearing rain gear and extra sweaters. Friends of ours went with us for the 1st weekend of the year, this was also there 1st time out with there brand new TT. They had a great learning experiences, camping comes in all weather conditions and we have to be ready for anything.

I think I would have still stayed the night and roll in the morning. Although I did break camp early once in my PUP due to continuous rain. I was home by 7p, not leaving at midnight. It can only get better next time.

We just got home from our trip, Here in CA. it rained on us the whole time also. But try to keep in mind that camping is not only about hot sun and fun, But also about visiting with good people (Friends) and just being outdoors in any conditions. We made the best of our weekend and still had fun even though we spent most of it dodging rain drops.
