Just got back from having my HTT out for its second trip. Over a month ago, on the first trip, the heater and blower stopped working on the third day of a 5 day trip. We had used it to heat the camper up in the morning and right before we went to bed, so it might have run a total of 4 or 5 times. Dropped it off at the dealer on the way home, was fixed in a week. Daler said it was the thermostat. Have had it in the driveway for the last three weeks, checked twice to make sure the new thermostat was working - no problems. Leave for this weekend. Cold and rainy, go to turn on the furnace to dry out after setting up and warm the trailer and ... nothing! At least the first trip we were at an electric site and had a small ceramic heater, this last weekend we were boondocking and had nothing.

So, get home today, figure I solve this problem. Stop at Lowe's and get a small digital and programmable thermostat. Install new thermostat. Blower box now works, but no heat. Pull the cover on the frunace which has an automatic pilot light - no ignition. See nothing in the small window on the furnace. Anyone have an idea or experienced similar problems?

Hi. Is your Battery fully charged? The furnace has a sail switch in it that gets blown open from the fan, if the battery is low the furnace wont light. Try plugging it into shore power/your house and see if it lights.. do you have propane in your tanks? and the valve open? does the stove light to rule out a bad regulator?
Good Luck

Had problems last year where it would not ignite. Tried everything finally took it in and the dealer claims they found a bees nest inside the air intake port. Picked up the trailer tried it the next night it did not work. The dealer said they needed to clean adjust the electrode, it has worked every since.

Try a search on Tech Issues. You'll get more theories than you want. :-)

Have LP gas, stove works. Blower and furnace did not work when boondocking or on shore power. Electrode is clean as a whistle on the outside contact (did not look inside yet).

I agree with Dale M. Plug into shore power and see if the furnace kicks on. Fan will run on a low battery, but the fire will not ignite. I found this out from first hand experience!

Funny story:

Last fall, furnace worked perfect. I keep the TT plugged in all winter. Spring came around, started checking out the trailer and getting ready. Dewinterized, check tires, etc. Decided to try furnace. It started at first, but after a few minutes, no heat! Yikes! I kept playing with the thermostat, no heat! I SERIOUSLY thought about taking the TT in for service. After about 3 days, I finally decided to do just that. Wife decided to go out and check it out .. Oh yea, go fur it honey!

She came back in the house and said, Do you know the lights are really dim? DUH! Sudden shock and a wave of "Ah-oh!" Then I remembered, I unplugged the TT electric cord from the wall plug in the garage when using a power saw a few weeks earlier. I went out to the garage. Sure enough, TT not plugged in. I plugged it. Went back to the TT, flipped the furnace on! Guess what?

Heat!

Sounds like a battery charging issue or a converter issue to me.

Mine was more of the adjustment than cleaning, but since they had it out to bench test I did not see what they did, or how sensitive of an electrode adjustment it was. Also if they yank it to bench test check the re-install before you leave. I had one ripped vent and a 2x4 under the furnace so they could bolt it instead of catching the original bolt holes to the floor. Pretty lazy, or after having to pull it twice in two days the guy figured he might be pulling it again.

Low voltage DC power will not allow the LP gas solinoid to open and the furnace won't fire.

If your last camping trip was a month ago and the battery wasn't removed from the trailer or switched off or fully charged just before you left (not days before), it was probably very low when you started out.

Everyone keeps referring you back to DC power yet you said it still does not work on shore power AC. I would think that would eliminate the battery unless you had an inverter problem.
