Hi everyone, I,m looking for the good and the bad concerning a
1984 Itashsa Sundancer C class 23 feet. I have been doing a lot of searching and finely found one at a dealer. It has all the maintaince records sense new. The motor home has been well maintained, new 400ci Goodwrench motor and 400 trany all new ,fridge , tires, stainless steel roof, rebuilt gen., new wiring and pluming.I talked to the couple that owned it, they said they had all this work done so could go back east, however the oil cartel and the housing slump has canceled their planes. They had to move into a apartment and had no place to park the RV. I paid 8000 for this unit. If you have any experence with one of these please reply. Thank you Tom from Portland Oregon

Sounds it it has one MAJOR problem the PO's could not solve. IT NEEDED A DRIVER. Make sure the roof seams do not leak anywhere and your big stuff should be out of the way for 10-15 years.

Deals like this happens all of the time but often you are the second one to learn about them.

Thanks for the information Gale, however I am the third person to know,
I had a RV teco spend two hours going over this unit. He said to replace the graphics on the outside.

Thanks again Gale Tom from Portland

That is good you got it checked out and they found not functional issues. Just in case you have any overheating issues take a look at the radiator but there is a good chance they had it checked out when they replaced the engine.

What a lot of people do not understand if a MH is dry (non leaker) the chassis can be rebuilt. For a little money you can make the wheel bearing and brakes at each corner like it was in 1984. Since you have the records you can go through system by system and check out any area that do not show to have been addressed of recent. Often a gas tank of that age can have a lot of trash/rust in it but again that may have been addressed or just not an issue. By the way what engine was it with 400 ci. Was it the 396 common in that era?

The THM 400 transmission is still used in US Army humvees according to Wikipedia. I have one, but I wish it had an overdrive.

Last I saw, HMMWV's made after about 2000 use the 4L80E, not the TH400.
