we just returned from a 4 day beach trip in our 2008 jayco jay feather lgt. The toilet smelled horrible the entire time! We called the dealer, and they suggested that we make sure that there is water in the bowl at all times, which we did. It still smells horrible, even after dumping and adding aqua chem. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you may have a bad seal. Take the TT to the dealer for a thorough inspection.

Could the seal be bad and still hold water in the bowl?

You might also want to check that the "door" was able to close all the way.

Try a different tank deodorizer, Walmart has several liquid types, including an Orange one that works well. Enzymes help reduce the waste. Also, look at RV360 as a possible solutuin, works great for us!

The vent out the roof may be blocked or may never have been connected during construction.

It is also possible that the black water vent pipe is installed improperly. The vent tube sometimes is put too far into the holding tank and causes the lack of proper venting. Your dealer should be able to identify and rectify the problem.

A properly functioning RV toilet will have NO odor whether you use toilet chemicals or not. It may have a non functioning vent system, it may have a very dirty tank (not using enough water or dumping when tanks are not close to full can cause this). Good luck / skip

If you camped at a campground with full hookups and left the dump valve open. you will get odors from the outside dump tank. I close our dump valve and only open every other day to dump and use the blue stuff. Never have any odors.
