I saw this in the store today and want to know if anyone has first hand experience with it?

Does it work and if so how well?

Would you buy one again?

It would be nice to know when the first tank is low or empty (especially in the winter) with out having to go outside, unhook the tank and guess the weight.

We stopped worrying about it. We move the lever to the curb tank and when it is empty switch over the the street tank and refill the empty one.
You might trying pouring hot water over the tank while gas is being used to indicate the level if you really want to know.

Hi Bruce: Can't help you on that one but for $79 you could get one that works for sure, think I will next year when we are down there, unless you find that it works.

I have a similar gauge on my tanks, no remote indicator though. While they will give some idea of whats in the tank they really don't help much. Problem with propane is the gauge changes all the time depending on external temperature. Sometimes the gauge will show the tank full, then later that day show it almost empty. The only thing that changed during that time was the ambient temperature. Plus the gauge will show full with just a little down swing until the tank is almost empty, then suddenly will drop into the yellow range. Overall it's not much help, just a guide to tell you when your empty. If I had it to do over again knowing what I know now I wouldn't waste my money. But if you do buy it let us know how it works for you! Good luck!

With dual tanks and auto switch you run off the tank without a gauge first. When it runs out you will know by the switch indicator. At that point you have your gauge but, as has been said, it's not an exact indicator. You do know that you are less than half though so it's time to at least start thinking about getting a refill.

I don't know about the remote gas sensor but I would think the most reliable method of knowing how much propane you have would be a weight scale but that wouldn't work for an RV since the tanks are clamped down.

Works on the Weber though...

Marshall makes a remote change-over indicator and I installed one on my camper. While it won't tell you how much is in the tanks it does let you know when the primary tank is empty so you can look for a place to get it filled.

Only downside is that it runs off of 2 AA batteries and has no on/off switch, so you need to remember to remove the batteries when you store the camper other wise once the LP leaks down from the hoses the indicator will start flashing and eventually deplete the batteries. Also the indicator will continue to flash as long as you are using the secondary tank. It will only stop when the primary tank is refilled and the change-over lever is flipped back to the primary tank.

Another piece of Chinese crap...as others have said the gauge fluctuates due to external temperature.

Weighing the bottle is the only true way of telling the amount of propane left.

Some one at one of our rallies had a clear (see through tank) I don't recall who it was or anything about them. That would be the ultimate gauge.
