I have seen 10-15% and you did good, 15-25% and you did great, but in this economy (5.15/gal diesel USD), I would assume they will pay you to take it... CAN or USD. You can do beter at a wholesaller, but ther are ups and downs to buying that way.

Have met many Canadians in our last four years of travel -- before the Loonie became equal to our dollar -- who bought their rigs in the States -- everything from massive motorcoaches to fifth wheels. They all said they saved huge amounts of money by buying here. Don't know what the tax implications for you would be, but you might want to sniff around south of the border, son.

We have been thru all of this the last 6 months before buying, you have MSRP, show price (about 10% off), and up to 35% off from a wholsaler. We bought at about 27% off from a dealer that really treated us straight. Shop around a few dealers, I found out for the 5er we bought dealer prep. and shipping IS included in MSRP. Of 4 dealers 3 tried to add it in extra only 1 treated us straight all the way thru the deal. If there are any wholesalers near you maybe check them out. In USA they are all in the eastern area and we are in Calif. so we went to 4 dealers in reasonable driving range. Good luck.
We bought a 2007 in July and the 2008 were out. The rig I purchased had been a show unit so it had some wear on carpet but already had TV and a lot of upgrades. Had one small scratch on one of the bottom panels. They said they could fix it and I said give me a good deal. That way it had its first scratch and I did not do it. they took about 300 off installation and puchase on my hitch. Any way MSRP was in upper 30's (memory is going think 39 or 37.) We got it for 29,500. It has a lot of upgrades I would not of ordered or cared about but glad they are there. Good luck

The problem is that most RV manufacturers do not give out their real MSRP, so the dealers make up anything they want.
How many times have we read on this forum of folks being given different "MSRPs" at different dealers for the exact same unit?
Don't get hung-up on getting a certain amount off "MSRP" or you may get screwed by paying too much thinking that you got 50-60% off some unit that was marked up to a fare-thee-well. Find the unit you want an compare bottom line prices and forget the percentage chase.
If you do find a manufacturer that does post their MSRP on their website, then you can figure out the true discount and you will find out it is no where near as much as some folks think. 20% is good, 25% is great (and may be doable in this market).
Good luck.

We bought our trailer in the USA. Save about 10.000 over buying it in Canada. VERY easy to bring back home you just need:
1) A clearence recall letter
2) A letter stating NO leans on the trailer
3) and pay a 227.00 fee plus our Canadian taxes
4) If you buy in the USA you DO NOT have to pay the taxes from that state if you let them know you will be brining the vehicle back to Canada.

This is the best advice in the thread.
Trying to work a deal using the amount off "msrp" is like walking backwards up a hill.
