Went camping this weekend- Wife had to work, rain was forcast all weekend, but I took the kids and went anyway. Spent $5.00/night times 2 nights for a Forest Service CG. Spent $53.75 on fuel. Food was a wash as we had to eat either way. Road was muddy so I spent $6.00 at the truck was when we got back to town. $64.75 for a weekend in the mountains with the kids is pretty cheap to me. Heck, if we stayed in town and went to a movie for 2-3 hours it would have cost $40-$50! Hope you all had a great weekend too!

I hear you and I would rather stay in my RV then a Hotel/Motel if I'm going away. I feel like I have all the comforts of home in it - ok it isn't nearly as big as my house - but I still enjoy it.
For us a movie is about 100 - 120 - so I say go camping instead :-)

Sounds like a cost effective weekend. Especially when you factor in the time spent with family....which is PRICELESS!

We are spending days in our rig in our driveway with our two dogs during extensive home renovation and remodelling. Our bedroom and bathrooms are still usable at night. Without our Tioga, we would have had to rent a motel with kitchen (that allows dogs)(?)for about five months. It's saving us at least $10K, probably lots more.

Yep, spent four days on the Coast relaxing by the ocean. Spent $124 on gas, instead of $350 a night on a hotel.

Spent $260 in fuel (3 days) for our road trip this past weekend.
After seeing how nasty hotels are, I'll still take the RV on road trips.
Only snafu we had was, the slide out not retracting.

Heading tomorrow to the mountains for 3 nights. I figure that gas and CG fees will be no more than $130. Not too bad. I guess we were really spoiled when the gas prices were lower.

Went camping last week for four days@$10.00/day. $40.00 for campsite (golden age pass) and $38.00 for gas (180 miles) had to eat anyways so don't count that. I grow my own worms so fished for free. Can't beat that! Life is good.

Everybody forgets to add in the price of the Motorhome. Figure that in and then figure out how much it cost you. Most people forget that you had to buy the motorhome unless as said above you got it for free !!
